A little gem from the Daily Mississipian
This is from our conservative Ole Miss Newspaper.

You will be glad to know that he got a LOT of hate mail afterwards.

1. Ah, the educated...
I particularly like the misspelling of "propaganda."

19. You've got to read the responses...and then
read the catalog of David Welborn's responses to other letters to the editor.

David shouldn't leave a paper trail. He's a bigot, anti-immigrant, homophobic. I doubt that he can get a job, unless he knows someone. I'm surprised that he got into college.

kick Ole Miss' ass even more when they come to Wyoming this fall. You have no Eli and can't spell propaganda? We will crush you on the gridiron. GGRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

5. I actually like Ole Miss football, we watched every game last year.

However, way way way too much money goes into our sport's program.

7. Man I LOVE Wyoming Cowboy football.
He always sings ragtime music to the cattle
As he sways back and forward in the saddle
On a horse (pretty good horse!)
Oh how the run (yes run!)
When they hear him coming
Cause the western folks all know
He's a high falutin
Rootin tootin
Son of a gun from ol' Wyoming
Ragtime Cowboy
Talk about your Cowboy
Ragtime Cowboy Joe!

C-O-W-B-O-Y-S
COWBOYS!
COWBOYS!
COWBOYS!

14. This is the first time in history
An SEC team has visited Laramie. It's one of the biggest games in years. ESPN ($$whores) tried to force us to play it on a Thursday night, we stuck to our guns, said _*shove it*_, our fans are more important.

15. Not gonna happen, Tiger
Sorry - the Cowboys and the Mountain West Conference just aren't going to be much of an opponent for the Rebels and the SEC. I've never been able to figure out why we're we're even playing this game, on the road no less.

Looking forward to our game, as usual!

17. You're in for a surprise.
The Mountain West is much, much stronger than you expect. aTm barely beat us in Laramie 3 years ago (FG in the last 3 minutes), when they were ranked in the top 15, and we were enduring the _*WORST*_ season in our storied program's 125 years of football. Bring your oxygen masks. WELCOME TO 7220 FT ABOVE SEA LEVEL. And a healthy dose of Western hospitality to you all that make the trip to God's Country.

20. No disrespect meant
Its just that this game has very little upside for Ole Miss and tons of upside for Wyoming. The Rebs will be favored, and a win isn't going to mean much in the grand scheme of things, but a loss would be pretty bad. And I agree - I'm not looking forward to our guys having to deal with the elevation factor. But we'll have played Memphis, Alabama, and Vanderbilt coming into your game, and you'll have played Appalachian State (I-AA) and tAMu on the road.

I have a lot of respect for Wyoming football. But I think that even the biggest Wyoming homer has to agree that this one is going to be a long shot for the Cowboys.

Good luck on 9/25 - unfortunately, I won't be able to make it out for a visit (a long trip from New Hampshire).

22. Well 3 MWC teams
are ranked ahead of Ole Miss in preseason, and we beat 2 of them last year. I smell victory.

18. Yeah
That's what was afraid of.

But hey, at least I can be proud of my SEC and its toughness. We're no Pac-10 cupcakes!

I'm looking forward to your visit to Death Valley! Hopefully I'll get my student tickets, there have been more requests than tickets available.

6. Be sure to leave a comment in the forum!
There are some smart liberals, including yours truly when I find the time, who delight in slapping around the knuckledraggers who hang out there. And the moderators will post pretty much any comment you submit, so long as it's not actually obscene.

9. Sorry to say,
this is what I've come to expect from my old school...

I wouldn't go as far as saying the folks up there are "knuckledraggers" -- there is a sizable population of rich kids who have never worked a day in their life, are counting on daddy's law/medical practice once they get out of school, or are drunken talibornigans who think all there is to being a Christian is hating queers & having a plastic American flag on their car's antenna.

I said it when I was there & I'll say it again now that I'm out - Love the school, hate the people who go there.

11. By "knuckledraggers," I was referring
to four or five real genetic defectives who troll that forum constantly regurgitating Limbaugh talking points and launching personal attacks on anyone who doesn't believe that George W. Bush was born of a virgin and sits at the right hand of the Father.

I also spent a good many years at Ole Miss, slogging through a Ph.D., and found that most people there are genuinely good folks, no different, in most ways, from people anywhere else.

12. Wow - guess the DM has gotten conservative
When I went to school there, it was considered a voice of moderation in a sea of Confederate conservatism. Most of the right-wingers I knew thought it was a "liberal rag."

Besides the ridiculous concept (and misspelled word), that cartoon looks like it was drawn by a middle school student - embarassing, to be sure.

21. Well, there's a new staff every year, so
it varies considerably from year to year, both in quality and ideological perspective.

This past year the DM was not so much political as just amateurish. They were really embarrassing. But there have been years when the DM was quite liberal and also well done.

Apparently this is not one of those years.
