1. Condi also said "I'm just trying to get through the next few weeks."
I can't get this out of my mind--I started a thread on it yesterday.

4. As has been mentioned....
.... this could easily be referring to the time frame of the convention.

Personally, I think that some of you are over the top with fear. Yes, the Bush* regime will stoop pretty low, we've seen that.

But the idea they can pull off some kind of feigned terror attack? Come on, these guys are JUST TOO DAMN STUPID TO DO IT without getting caught.

I'm not saying there is no way there will be an attack between now and Nov, obviously Al Queda would probably like to strike. But the idea it will 1) give the government an excuse to declare martial law, postpone elections, etc or 2) work in Bush*'s favor electorally ...

well I don't buy either one of those. Little George will shit his pants if there is a significant attack because it will prove once and for all he's not doing the job - and set into clear motion valid criticism that he's done DAMN NEAR NOTHING TO SECURE THE HOMELAND.

Bath toy Ridge might as well resign, he heads a paper organization.

3. When a 27-year CIA analyst starts sounding like a "conspiracy theorist"
it's time for those who think LIHOP is a paranoid delusion to wake up and smell the cordite.

5. Let them try.
I suspect that Americans will react with extreme negativity to this. Stuff that may be closely held by those who don't want to see this country torn apart will release the evidence implicating these criminals.

Since I think there is criminal wrong doing on the part of this administration to allow 9/11 to happen, we should consider their motives for delaying and/or canceling an election. If you were complicit in the deaths of 3000 Americans and your personal security was at risk by being voted out of power, what would you do to save your sorry ass? As long as the polls indicated that Bush would win, playing that card wasn't necessary and counter-productive. Seeing that he is, in fact, losing the support of the American electorate makes this last desperate act necessary.

Personally, I think it will delay the inevitable and, if anything, will help to repudiate the Republican Party once and for all. They are standing in a pool of gas and are beginning to light matches....

10. I've been banking on the fact that BushCo has made so many CIA enemies
As well as military enemies - and I truly believe they would GET CAUGHT this time - which is the only thing preventing them from going there so far. But with McGovern actually sounding concerned that they will still attempt this...this concerns me a bit.

has come to pass. Why should this be different?

Bush is tanking, they know it, they want to steal it in a way that very few would question. :tinfoilhat:

13. What if..Terror event followed by 'the America for Jesus' demonstration..
Edited on Mon Aug-09-04 04:36 PM by lostnfound
There's another thread that describes the massive 'America for Jesus' demonstration planned for October 22. What if there 'happened to be' another terror event and a few days or a week or two later, there was a national prayer-fest..Bush could be hailed as the great warrior/high-priest-in-chief..I suspect the effect would be to solidify 60% of the public back behind him.

Not just a terror event, like what happened in Spain, but a terror event followed by a preplanned, all-emotional-religious-buttons-pushed, made-for-TV event.

How many election points would that be worth?

16. Haven't you learned yet??
They hide out in the "wide open". They do what people have talked about, warned about, etc. Then when they do it, they and the media say with wide eyes, "are you SUGGESTING that the administration would do this"?? It's playing on the American people's (morons all) that bad crap is pulled in all other countries of the world but never in places as wholesome and clean as the USA. Their defense (and I keep screaming this to the heavens) is that they are so obvious that no one would believe they could do such things. And they are laughing at the fools, and laughing, and laughing..........

19. Slightly off topic, but in the article:
"Perhaps most worrisome of all from the administration’s point of view are the fresh photos, film footage, and other reporting of torture in U.S.-run prisons in Iraq and elsewhere that will surface in the coming weeks."

I keep seeing references to these reports "surfacing" some time in the near future. I know Sy Hersh has the info, but he's held on to it. WaPo has pictures but they aren't publishing them.

I wish the story would just break, dammit!
