http://factcheck.org/article.aspx?docID=224"Summary
False allegations about Kerry's wife have been circulating for months, but the velocity of the Internet "whispering campaign" picked up substantially with the approach of the Fall campaign.
One false message claims Teresa Heinz Kerry gave $4 million to a foundation that used the funds to support a list of "radical" groups including one with alleged links to Hamas and another that is said to have offered to provide a lawyer for Saddam Hussein. But public records show otherwise. Heinz Kerry's foundation money was directed to projects such as "Sustainable Pittsburgh," which promotes "smart growth" strategies.
Another widely circulated e-mail claims Kerry and his wife "own" dozens of H.J. Heinz Company factories in Europe and Asia. It accuses Kerry of hypocrisy for denouncing offshoring of US jobs while "making millions off that cheap labor."
That's also false: neither of them own Heinz. Public records show Heinz Kerry isn't an officer of the company, isn't on the company's board of directors, and isn't even close to being the largest shareholder. The Heinz Endowments do own Heinz stock -- less than 4% of the company -- but income from that stock goes to charity, not to the Kerrys personally." <snip>
Good luck though. My Dad had already forwarded the email to me (included with his email group of friends/family that he uses for these purposes). I'd replyall'd with the Snopes link. No responses from anyone so far, except my Dad. Then, I sent just my Dad the factcheck.org link in a vain but hopeful intent of trying to get him to check his facts before becoming an uninformed, complicit dope of these whispering campaigns. No such luck though...here was his response to factcheck.org's info:
"Maybe this was incorrect but outfits like the Iraq Peace Fund and Strategies certainly do not help matters with its philosophy. Of course, it fits in with kerry's no leadership concept of letting terrorists possibly kill a half million people and then we'll go after them. Talk about convoluted thinking.
Dad
P.S., interesting that they talk about 8.1 million yet show three operations with a total of 4.0 million. Where's the the other half?
P.P.S., yes I did read it."I told him to take me out of his email group for these things and that I'm voting for Kerry.
