Make them like holidays, parades and such. Encourage people to vote. Since voting is our most important tool for remaining a Democracy.

1. Election Day would be a wonderful Holiday
to celebrate our freedoms, take our children to vote with us, remember the men and women who gave their lives for our freedom.

On the other hand, it would probably leave Freepers with too much time on their hands for intimidation at the polls.

5. We get veterans day off in November but not election day
I think we should honor veterans by voting on veterans day.

10. I think Election Day should be a Wednesday holiday.
It should be a work-free holiday, not on a weekend - people make plans for weekends.

Tuesday is just a bad day for it - I wouldn't make it a Monday, either, because then people would start taking vacations on the resulting 3-day weekend. People should stay home. If it's on a Wednesday, people will be near home because they worked Tuesday and have to work on Thursday. Plus, Wednesday splits up the week nicely - it could be called Election Week.
