Is this scenario a nightmare to you all?
Imagine the RNC convention entering its last day, when bush is to be nominated as the Republican candidate. Imagine, a few hours before his acceptance speech, word comes out of Pakistan that OBL has been captured in a joint US-Pakistan operation.
Should such a situation materialize, which I think is quite probable considering the frequency with which Pakistan is "discovering" terrorists, is it conceivable that bush will lose in Nov?
Your thoughts....?

1. yes, unless...
Unless Kerry-Edwards are willing to make the case that Bush-Cheney are manipulating intelligence and military actions for political purposes. In that case, it's not so clear-cut.

5. Osama is caught but somehow a reporter gets into see him and then
gets a story that shows how Bush let him get away the first time, only the reporter's paper will not let the reporter publish so it gets posted on fifteen different major blogs and becomes national and global news. Then Bush gets impeached and Cheney drops dead in shock. Hastert runs away to the Bahamas because HE knows he is not going to be able to everything his masters want. Then Colin Powell comes out and says "Wow, I am WHAT?"

This is just in fun you know. What politician WOULD ever give up their chance at being Prez even if it was for a few months.

3. "I am an old man, and have known a great many troubles. . ."
wrote Mark Twain, "but most of them never happened."

"Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof," said the Gallilean. Wise advice, that. Good for staving off ulcers and assorted other afflictions of the spleen.

4. Borrowing from Bill Maher, let's put it this way...
Even if the Republicans brought OBL into the convention hall in chains, King Kong style, he's going to lose. OBL isn't Dubya's only failure.

7. that's what you and i know....
... but with mainstream media just looking for an excuse to back bush to the hilt, i think the majority of voters would lose sight of these other failures.

6. They can conjure up OBL
They can't conjure up a million lost jobs.

Their magic isn't that strong.

I keep expecting to wake up but it seems to get worse every day. I'm sure the Bushies have something up their sleeve. They are polling here in Colorado, my wife got a call tonight, they asked her 2 questions. 1. Are you going to vote for Bush or Kerry? 2. Are you voting for Kerry because you like him or because you want to get rid of Bush?

They are trying to figure out what to do. They seem to have caught on that just because you keep the protesters out of sight it doesn't mean they don't exist...

12. Unlikely since they already compromised the al-Qaeda double agent...
...who the Pakistanis were grooming to point the way to Osama. By now Osama's probably hiding deep in one of ten thousand caves.

Experts: Beware of al Qaeda"s "Offspring"

Bushco lacks the imagination and global respect to fight terrorism on an ongoing basis. We need somebody with much, much more international understanding and ingenuity. Kerry may actually do quite well at it.

14. So obvious, that it would be farcical.
An OBL capture during the RNC would be SUCH a blatantly obvious attempt at politicizing his capture that i don't think any swing voter in there right mind wouldn't be extremely suspicious. Yeah, sure, the hard-core wingnuts will think its some kind of miracle from Gawd, but none of the voters that matter this year will.

15. don't be so sure man.
we're talking abt people who believed saddam destroyed the WTC just coz * and gang hinted at it.
i don't think, going by precedence, that the obviousness of it all will be of any concern to a majority of american swing voters.

with their own numbers, repukes back up media, and nobody is sure how many votes either candidate got.
