More letters criticizing Lott's comments about Kerry in Clarion-Ledger
August 8, 2004
Lott won't impact nation about Kerry

The article by staff writer Andy Kanengiser ("Lott fires up Neshoba crowd," July 29) has found a place in my heart.

It is nice to see that a senator from Mississippi can go to a county fair and claim that John Kerry speaks French (which I think is true), is an extreme liberal and a socialist and the election should be an easy victory for Mr. Bush.

At least that would be true if Trent Lott, who is seen as a god in Mississippi, could convince the rest of the United States. Funny thing, though, is that Mr. Lott has as much credibility outside Mississippi as Oliver North would have giving testimony to a congressional hearing.

Mr. Lott's own Republican Party hung him out to dry after the Strom Thurmond debacle.

I will not lose sleep over what Mr. Lott has to say about this election.

Lott wrong to try to make fun of Kerry

How dare Sen. Trent Lott attempt to make fun of Sen. John Kerry — a thrice-wounded combat veteran decorated repeatedly for valor in combat ("Lott fires up Neshoba crowd," July 29)?

Lott should go back to Ole Miss and play with his pompoms.

Kerry's daddy did not get him out of active service.
