I think he started out doing investigative journalism, but later in his career had a change of heart and decided to buy into an ultra-libertarian viewpoint. He got in trouble for misreporting a study on organic foods and had to apologize on air. I think he used to live next door to Barbara Streisand and go to parties at her house when she was married to Jon Peters, but maybe I'm confusing him with Geraldo Rivera.

last week or the week prior. i didn't hear it, but i meant to grab it from the archives and listen to it, maybe someone here can post the exact date. from what i've heard, franken really took him to town.

also, as someone said above, he's a libertarian and part of his schtick (which he got busted for on the daily show) is saying that government should impose zero regulations on business and business will sort themselves out for the betterment of society.
