Don't you find it truly amazing we haven't had another attack since 9/11?

The Repubs have been test-running this question for quite some time now? After all, we have gone almost 3 years without a major attack under George w Bush's leadership? Didn't you anticipate another attack almost immediately? Doesn't this prove what a great leader he has been?

Of course, they never mention that we went 8 years without a major attack under Clinton, after the first WTC bombing in early 1993? Yeah, but what about the Cole and the embassy bombings? Yes, those did happen but not on our soil. What about the bombing of the UN building in Baghdad, one might ask? Or the roadside bombings that happen almost daily?

But, basically, they are referring to attacks on our "homeland" that Bush has prevented. Were there other plans in the works to attack us? Or was the WTC the one big shot? There was never meant to be a continuing battle, in the eyes of the terrorists, at least not daily, weekly, or even yearly. Yes, they like to plan 3 ot 4 years ahead just as the Bush regime says. So, why should we have believed there was to be an imminent attack after 9/11, since that was not their modus operandi, according to their own reading of al Qaeda tactics??

1. It was our Reichstag. Bush staged it. Rememember the planned 9/11 press
conference on the steps of the capital? As it had been leaked that Gore had over-whelmingly won the Florida recount, a press conference was scheduled for the steps of the capital for that morning to discuss the removal of the loser from office. Those calling it included Prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi, Congressmen Jesse Jackson, Jr, Bob Fertik of Democrats.com and others. Guess why it was called off?

2. 9-11 was a one-time thing
America never had a terror attack like that before. 3000 people killed. If bush is gonna run on the theme of "only one 9-11 type attack in 4 years" then he's in trouble.

3. They've gotten what they wanted from Bush.
Edited on Sat Aug-07-04 12:56 PM by gulliver
Bush essentially gave Al Qaeda what they wanted. They wanted attention, terror in our citizenry, a United States hated by Muslims and humiliated in the eyes of the world. Bush gave them all that and more.

Terrorists aren't attacking us just now, because they are winning everywhere but here. There is also a good chance that Al Qaeda doesn't want to do anything to hurt Bush's election chances.

Notice the attacks in Fallujah and Sadr City also diminish when we give the insurgents what they want.

On edit: Reorganized to clarify that Al Qaeda and the insurgents in Iraq are two different threats. Al Qaeda picked a fight with the United States. Bush then picked a fight with the insurgents in Iraq.

4. I find the question stupid...osama must be laughing at all the
damage bush has done to us. Osama doesn't need to attack. Bush is killing our children in Iraq. About half as many as were killed on 911. And he is ticking off the world.

Osama looks calm compared to all the damage BushCo is doing to the world, our people, our economy, our image. They are definitely out to take the usa down. Osama doesn't have to do anyting but watch disassemble this country....and BushCo do so much in escalating fear they hold everyone hostage to their fears.

5. MAYBE there isn't a terrorist cell on every corner?
Or in every mosque?

Because it obviously ain't all that hard to turn a car into a bomb. So where are the car bombs?

6. A pink and purple flying hippopotamus hasn't been
flying over my house and collapsing the roof with its poop, either, but that doesn't mean Bush had anything to do with preventing it.

We haven't been attacked again because no attacks have been planned. Bush has done NOTHING beyond harassing airline passengers and curtailing civil liberties for American citizens. Dirty cash is still flowing from offshore conduits. Containers coming in from overseas via the ports are still uninspected. Chemical plants are still unguarded.

We will be attacked again, and I think we can pretty much guarantee that. A capable administration would be building international support and intensive police work to slow these guys down. Bush has done neither.

Remember, it was 9 years between WTC attacks.

7. Yes, kind of defeats the whole point of terrorism, doesn't it.
But I have been LIHOP/leaning MIHOP since the beginning, so it doesn't surprise me.
