What the hell is with medicare.org? Is that a government site!?
Can someone explain to me please why www.medicare.org has the the smirking chimp's face all over it with shameless Kerry-bashing that would embarrass any Fox newsclone...
Why must we stare at the pretzel boy's grinning rictus?
Isn't that a government page? I know, I know -it's www.medicare.gov that is the OFFICIAL page, but still... Doesn't that violate, at least, the principle of copyright law, which is to say that it is seemingly designed to confuse the consumer (read citizen), isn't it?

I would appreciate your sharing of wisdom.

4. But how sleazy and deceptive can you get?
If this was Commercial business, it would seem to me a clear violation of copyright designed to confuse and deceive consumers (voters). Isn't that as clear as day?

So why isn't there any issue made of that? Couldn't that sway millions of seniors who are worried about their Medicare/Medicaid?

I know I may sound naive...I thought I knew what sleazy was but...

Can someone straighten out my head?

3. that's the way the worldwideweb works
The suffix at the end makes it a totally different name-it belongs to whoever registers it first.
Check out www.whitehouse.org, or www.whitehouse.com and you'll see what I mean

6. you can find out who has registered a domain with 'whois'
http://www.internic.net/whois.html

Registrant Name:Iconserve, Inc
Registrant Organization:Iconserve, Inc
Registrant Street1:1616 Brookview Cove
Registrant City:Birmingham
Registrant State/Province:AL

Iconserve are an 'internet services' company. So it could be anyone hiding behind their name.

I think it would normally be up to the real Medicare to make the complaint about misuse (not copyright, but trade and service marks - which may not apply to a public program anyway); and, looking at the name dispute rules, must show that:

(i) your domain name is identical or confusingly similar to a trademark or service mark in which the complainant has rights; and

(ii) you have no rights or legitimate interests in respect of the domain name; and

(iii) your domain name has been registered and is being used in bad faith.

In the administrative proceeding, the complainant must prove that each of these three elements are present.

The owners may claim that they are commenting on public policy, and thus have a legitimate interest.
