Why is Bush wasting time only preaching to his choir?
I'm seeing all these articles about Bush and Cheney screening and/or purging their audiences of anyone who may disagree with them. What's the deal? Why are they wasting their time and taxpayer's dollars, (protection money), if all they're going to do is preach to their choir? Do they truly believe their base, alone, will get them elected? Maybe, they're not really worried about winning?

6. It's very strange that he doesn't seem to
even be attempting to get the 'swing' voters. Maybe just get out the forever faithfuls and a little BBV. It doesn't make sense does it.

7. If he moves away from them, he loses them.
And he loses the election! I happen to think he will lost the election anyway, but if he loses any of his faithful followers, he's toast and he knows that.

13. The Amish don't vote.
It is "yoking yourself to an unbeliever."

So says my Mennonite relatives. (who do vote, and tend to vote liberal! They KNOW if they lose the 1st Amendment, they'll lose their religion. Mennonite is not going to survive that kind of thing.)

10. there arent that many undecided.
what they are working at is getting the people who do think like him to go out and vote. only like 50% of the people vote. and only like a little less than half of those vote repug, so they are looking to get some of those 50% that dont vote out to vote. not go after swing voters

11. TV

Those events really aren't meant as speaking engagements with the audience. They're meant to provide video clips to TV news outlets. Us such, they don't want any boing or disruption at the event. They don't want anyone who doesn't clap at the right time or seem unenthusiasitc (remember the dozing fat kid????)

I remember when Dan Quayle came to Purdue during the 1992 election. It was advertised in the paper, but when I got there, there was VERY high bleachers erected keepin all the "undesirable" people out of the speaking engagement.

14. I guess this is why they speak so often to a military audience.
They're not allowed to say shit and they look good in the background.

12. They are more scared of embarrasing protests than a terrorist attack
One of the most shocking moments in F911 was seeing the protestors and egg-throwing at his limo on Inauguration Day. It was shocking because I (and most Americans) had never seen that footage before. The media was complicit in trying to keep the American people pacified when the election was stolen.

However, if some major disruptions occur at a campaign event, there is a good chance it will become news. Bushco knows that his campaign appearances will be covered on T.V. every day and they want the crowds at the events to look 100% supportive and adoring. It would be so dreadful if anyone there pointed out that the emperor wears no clothes.

16. I just had a brilliant idea!!!
Ok, so it's probably hard to get a "mole" into these campaign events and even if one, or some, got in it really wouldn't do much. My idea won't do much, either, except mess with a little CNN brain.

You know how on CNN's Crossfire they seem to have days when the audience is full of suit and tie, "Young Republicans?" Well... I think it would be interesting if a bunch of DUers suited up and went in pretending to be on the Right and then booing everything Carlson, or Novak, say. It would be fun, eh?

17. People are nothing but props to Bush
As this picure proves:

U.S. President George W. Bush speaks on environment conservation on the farm of Mark and Shirley Katzenmeyer in Le Sueur, Minnesota, August 4, 2004. Bush spoke of his government's efforts to conserve agricultural land and preserve wetlands and wildlife, during his three-day campaign swing through middle America in the hotly contested states of Iowa, Minnesota, Ohio and Michigan.

This is what you see in the media:

18. Exactly. They want the props to behave for the TV audience.
So they allow only confirmed Bushbots in the "crowd". The media doesn't EVER mention that the audiences are totally screened--and are always small by Kerry standards.

The media whorishly produces exactly what Rove wants shown: seemingly large, adoring crowds, wildly supportive of the Chimperor's every utterance.

The real audience are the many, many gullible people who are watching the Bush-shit on the tube. Goebbels would be proud.

21. What the hell are those hay bales there for (bottom picture)?
It looks like they are there to cushion him when he falls off the stage. Kind of like a big pillow to keep him from getting any visible bruises from the inevitable fall.

Also the usual fake rancher/farmer/West Texas cowpoke photo-op.

22. Its like filming an episode of "Friends"
He needs some people in the audience to provide the "Applause Track" just like shows like Lucy and the Honeymooners needs a laugh-track. It all adds to the show and performance.

19. IMO, I think jebbie and he and a few other governors or people in
Edited on Fri Aug-06-04 10:20 PM by tlcandie
positions to FIX things have constant talks and they are assured he will stay in office n/m what because they have at least 3-4 plans to alleviate any and all problems that might arise November 2nd.

If they appear to be loosing:

Send out the militia and have an all out protest that turns violent and pushes back the liberals which requires martial law in order to control.

If they appear to be winning and the dems are protesting or appear to be getting too loud:

Rinse and repeat

Maybe it will only start with one state...Umm FLORIDA and move to other states as the governors/president deems necessary.

EDIT: Contractors will be used to corral the people along with police who will move from state to state.

20. Its elementary in Presidential politics that you gotta secure your base
first. Bush hasn't done that yet.
