3. I've seen some ridiculous sites...
http://www.the7thfire.com/Politics%20and%20History/peak_oil/is_peak_oil_a_myth.htm

It's a long, tedious article that tries to say peak oil is a myth. While I agree that we don't conclusively know if oil is truly created by the decay of fossilized critters, it's still very true that this stuff will be harder to get.

And synthetic oils are much more expensive than the natural stuff.

Glad I didn't base the US economy on the concept of supply/demand...

4. Maybe not, but with demand going through the roof, it doesn't matter.

5. Peak oil - not until 2005, 2008, maybe 2012 if we're lucky.
Kerry's got to convince the public that only he will do something AND stress the urgency of the problem.

* clearly won't do a damn thing, except help his rich corporate buddies, the pathetic inhuman little traitors that they are...

6. Oil companies make more money, they can contribute more to Junior...
...then Junior can get his "brother" Prince Bandar to drop the prices right after Labor Day. How many votes will Junior get from the fence sitting SUV drivers if he can get them $1.50/gallon or better by November?

7. Worked in the oil industry in early '70s
Although I don't recall that trade magazines and newspapers used the term "peak oil," the concept that oil would peak in the first 20 years of the 21st century was generally accepted around 1973-74 during the first oil crisis. Kerry's policy on energy independence is excellent. Even if people disagree with the rest of Kerry's policies, they should vote for him because of his energy plans.
