MSNBC: Jim Kramer, 32,000 jobs "kind of a disaster, clearly recessionary"
Edited on Fri Aug-06-04 10:23 AM by flpoljunkie
He would not even go there to discuss unemployment figure, 5.5%. He said let John Snow deal with that. Wall Street focuses on the jobs number--that's what tells us how the economy is faring.

Market is down around 97 points at this moment--well below 10,000 mark, around 9869.

1. 32,000 sucks, but isn't quite recessionary.
It's stagnatory.

4. I thought 144,000 was what was needed to be stagnant...
Above that and there was a net gain in jobs, below was a net loss - due to population increase.

5. does anyone remember InsHannity saying
he had inside info on the new job numbers and they were going to be great? Guess his inside info was a bit wrong, or they think 32,000 REALLY is great...

6. Hmmm... so whose recession would this be?
They tried to blame the 2001-2002 recession on Clinton when they realized that the recovery was jobless.

So, if we're dipping into a second recession... ummm... is it Grover Cleveland's fault?

13. "The Democrats talked the economy down"
I'll wager you'll hear this often as the wingnut pundits try to rationalize the numbers. See, we Dems have so much influence over the economy that we don't even need to control policy, we just have to talk about it and voila!, the economy shifts :D

7. I saw that
He also said that the whisper number was for an increase of 350,000 jobs. It just shows how out of touch most of these well off Wall Street fuckers are, the same folks that pushed for "moderate" Bush in 2000.
