Republicans admit Bush is lying about US soldier deaths and casualties
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/941406/posts?q=1&&page=51

To: Joe Hadenuf

its 26 dead if you only count "attacks"

there have been over 70 killed in both vehicle collision and combat since the pres declared major combat over. Each crash is the same, vehicle comes at the humve, humve swerves and rolls over leaving several dead. This happens way too frequently to all be "accidents". Dead is dead, it doesn't matter how it happens it still leaves a family who will never see thier loved one again.
If you count both killed and wounded the entire 3 1/3 months has left a little over a 1000 as casualties. If their are 150,000 troops there right now, that means that about 1 out of every 150 has been killed or wounded. thats about .0075% (and rising). welcome to Somalia a thousand times over. This is going to be a long peace mission

2. I have a friend who is over there...a Marine...
and he said that he had never seen anything like it, that there have been many more deaths than are being reported.

He hates Bush, even more so than he did when he went. He will be home in August--and I am sure he will have lots of things to tell.

People need to get over the idea that all military personnel are gung-ho nationalists. NOt so.

IN every letter, her refers to Bush as "damn Bush." The only people he hates more are the Air Force personnel, because he said they have better "living standards" than the grunt marines.

Anyway, when it's over, these guys and gals will be back, and there will be no way to silence them. They will talk, and Bush won't be able to obfuscate the facts.

4. Wait a minute
I was an "Air Force person." If he manages to hate people like me more than he hates Bush, then fuck him. He just lost my interest.

6. I am just talking about the tone of his letter...
he said that while he was sleeping in the sand, that AF personnel had rooms.

I believe that he said that tongue in cheek...remember, he's dealing with a LOT over there! HE is in the combat zone.

Fuck him? That's the way you feel about a young Democrat who is in Iraq right now? He's itching to come home...take it out on me for wording the post wrong, but don't take it out on him.

The main gist of his message is STILL very poignant...the truth will come out.

8. Fair enough
but you did present it as fact. If that's the case, then YES FUCK HIM. Anyone who hates me more than Bush, can't be called a young democrat legitimately.

I have sympathy for your friend though. I've been there. Tell him there are some AF personnel who are living in rooms, true. There are also some Marines living in rooms as well. In addition to that, there are plenty of AF personnel sleeping in the dirt.

One thing you have to remember though. Most Marines sign on for exactly this type of activity. (I don't mean bush's war) AF personnel aren't infantry, therefore they don't go out carrying guns to the front. In the AF, for the most part, it's either fly airplanes or fix them.

This is neither here nor there. You're right, the message is very poignant. I'm glad the truth is getting out there. I apologize for taking such offense. PEACE.

10. Air Force ...LOL
Come on now... Hey...were all in it together and Military service is admirable from all services...BUT...please let's not make it sound like the AF has it just as tough as the Grunts... That's a fucking laugh....

17. I'd never make that statement
That was my whole point. While there are certain AF specialties which trudge around in the dirt, 95% of the force does not. 18 year olds know this when they sign up. I signed up because I DIDN'T want to do that shit. I wanted to work in a test lab with avionics equipment. The Marines I know signed up because they wanted to shoot, and eat bugs, and all that shit.

But don't hate the Navy and AF guys (and girls) because they chose one military profession over another.

15. Air Force base in Iraq has a Swimming Pool!
My brother in law is in the Army in Iraq, at a base in Balad (the one attacked the other day-he's ok). He talked to my sister on Saturday, said that they hear on the Air Force base they have a pool. He just started getting actual hot meals last week. If it's true they have a pool while other branches are sweating in the dirt, we need to figure out a way to spread the money more evenly to the branches. I think it breeds alot of resentment.

16. Unfortunately...
Anyway, when it's over, these guys and gals will be back, and there will be no way to silence them. They will talk, and Bush won't be able to obfuscate the facts.

It won't be over for at least 10 years, at which point our republic will be but a memory. And that's just counting Iraq, and not all the other nations Junior invades.

3. Interesting tactic
If he's right, it's an interesting tactic. I didn't know you could make a humvee roll over that easily, but it is a chronic problem with high-center-of-gravity vehicles. He's implying that it's a deliberate guerilla tactic, that they've learned a way to take out a humvee without firing a weapon. Wonder if this is accurate. I've had a feeling for a while that a lot of those "accidental" deaths aren't. One way to prove it might be statistically--there must be actuarial figures on how many accidental deaths would be expected in this kind and scale of operation...

5. I thought the point of the Humvee was that it
had a lower center of gravity due to its wide wheel base. I am sure there are ways to make it flip, but I can't think of one.

7. They flip very easily
As a matter of fact, every time you throw a live grenade under one, it flips over and the "accident" that ensues kills people.

13. rofl
that was funny, too bad it could be somebody we know in the humvee...

in vietnam, didn't they count these non-fatal combat injuries as well as in-theater 'accidents' (injured and dead) in the larger casualty figure? i know that 55,000 died in vietnam, but weren't there also several hundred thousand 'casualties'?

9. i've driven those Army humvees before
as long as you're not trying to be some stunt driveer, it is very, veyr, VERY difficult to flip one of those things over. Unless you happen to drive on some kind of ramp, a steep incline or hill, or you're just a terrible driver (and you'd have no businss with the keys to begin with!) The one sure way to flip a humvee and kill the people inside is with some kind of explosive device under/beside it, or knock it on the side with a mine, rpg, or missle. So whne I ear the words "solider died when humvee or tak flipped over", my BS detector goes off and I do this with my eyes :eyes:
