My step-father is an entrepreneur with a contracting business called DDC. Given that it is a family company, I do my share of work he asks me to do. Today I was given the task of calling people in Ohio to give them information about where they can get job applications for the Cuyahoga Scenic Railway project he's doing. The problem is there are only six positions available, and at least thirty people in the area had called in regards to the positions. The first person I called answered, was very polite, and I gave him the information that I needed to give. I was doing fine until I heard a baby crying in the background. As soon as I hung up, I started crying. This is awful. George W. Bush can parade his sorry ass as much as he wants in Ohio, or any state for that matter, saying the economy is good and new jobs are being created, but it isn't going to solve the problems of dozens of people like those I called in Ohio, who have a family, children, and are without a job. I so wish that there was a way for my step-dad's company or any place to have a job for all these people, who are willing to work to live and to provide for their families. It just makes me sick...
