ABC poll: More qualified to be commander-in-chief, Kerry over Bush 52-44
Edited on Mon Aug-02-04 05:07 PM by blm
In a world at war like we have now, THAT'S the ballgame, folks. That's the fight Bush wanted and Kerry took it to him.

Don't let the mediawhores get away with any spin.

The Massachusetts senator gained five to eight points among registered voters on issues and attributes alike, while Bush lost about as many. And after a convention that focused heavily on his military experience in Vietnam, Kerry leads Bush as "better qualified to be commander-in-chief," by 52 percent to 44 percent.
--snip--
Among registered voters, 50 percent support Kerry in this ABC News/Washington Post poll, 44 percent Bush and 2 percent Ralph Nader — a gain of four points for Kerry and a loss of four for Bush from the pre-convention ABC/Post poll.

30. matthew dowd is spreading the lie that Kerry didn't get any
bounce from our Convention. Said "history doesn't bode well for Kerry cause the only time incumbents have been beaten is when their opponents got said bounce after their convention. Well, I got news for dowdboy..we're doing fine and only going to get stronger!

2. I wonder how many people said
Are you Cheneying KIDDING me?!

Lesseee... an AWOL dyed-in-the-wool coward who asked for stateside duty when he had the chance to serve, who talks tough on teevee but loses fights with inanimate objects (like bikes and segways and pretzels & such), and won't even get his fake-cowboy ass on a horse, or a bona-fide war hero who seems to grok that the rest of the world ain't made up of just toy soldiers and weebles.

Yeah, I think Kerry's got that one nailed down pretty well.

4. BLM, ABC Has Disabled Your Link Replacing It With "What Bounce"?
Apparently, someone at ABC is in deep trouble for trying to report the truth about Kerry's standing with the public.

Unbelievable.

13. LOL. They are spinning this like crazy, aren't they.
When you read all the numbers they are most definitely positive for Kerry and show how solid he is heading into November. But, the wording around the numbers is SO heavily biased using obvious negative reinforcement words and catchphrases.

27. Our Network's Latest Poll Has Kerry UP By 20 Pts - Within Margin of Error
Yes, it is true: our network's latest scientific polling does reveal that John Kerry is indeed up by over twenty points over President Bush in all measurable categories, HOWEVER it is important to point out that twenty points fall well within the poll's margin of error.

Further, our Corporate Analysts unanimously concur that --- by any standard --- this race is just too close to call, folks.

5. The only area that Kerry
is way behind is the fighting terrorism issue. I don't get that one and the Kerry people should start telling about all the new terrorists that Bushie* has created. Should make this the new talking point, drive it home.

9. If Kerry gained 5 to 8 points and Bush lost as many ......................
Doesn't that mean that the spread widened? Isn't that a bounce?

If Kerry went from 0 to five and Bush went from 0 to -5 that is a gain of 10 points in the spread just as if Kerry went from 0 to 10 and Bush remained at 0.

Right?

This looks a lot like the right wing spin machine at work.

Good report by ABC, misleading header though. Shows solidifying among base and Bush losing ground. Completely contradicts the assertions of the 'no bounce' crowd.

19. No doubt the WH called and said they are hurting morale of the military
or that the terrorists will take it as a sign of weakness and carry out their plans sooner.

That's how these corrupt thugs operate.

Voters favoring Kerry over Bush 52-44 as commander-in-chief is DEVASTATING for BushInc and they know it. It CANNOT be spun.

we need the whole URL, please. I'm assuming you posted this one:

http://abcnews.go.com/sections/politics/Vote2004/kerry_bounce_poll_040802.html

but not sure.

the words "better qualified to be commander-in-chief" aren't anywhere in that article.

I've sent a mail requesting an explanation as to why they'd remove it, or directing me to where it is now reported.

24. Note to all Dem Talking Heads appearing on CNN, MSNBC & Fox
Pound these fools (Hannity, O'Leilly & Tweedy) with the "fit to be Commander in Chief" poll. Just say "by a margin of 52/44, the country thinks John Kerry is more qualified to be Commander in Chief... oh, and by the way... your guy already is Commander in Chief" Hannity's head will explode!!!!

I think the Gallup poll is BS, and they know it. There are 5 polls out now that show Kerry in the 49/50 range and Bush in the 43/45 range. Didn't Gallup's final poll in 2000 have Bush +13? I'm very pleased with the internals on all of the polls (especially ABC News).
All I heard last week was the "loss of momentum" entering the DNC cause of some bad internals on the prior ABC News poll. Oh well, I guess it's all Gallup all the time at Fox (do they realize they're publicizing CNN too?).

Because of the 'polarized' electorate their is little room for a large overall bounce; however, Kerry bounced Bush tremendously on the issues and personal attributes.

but How in the Name of God can Bush be at anything other than a 12 or 15???? What is wrong with America that he can be anywhere near the 40's?
What has robbed a strong majority of the ability to see the most obvious facts about this gang of...of...I don't know what to call them. Bush is beneath contempt.

35. With many it's religious fervor. They believe Bush is bringing Rapture
and that all his moves are geared to set the stage for it.

Bushies are really setting the stage for a nuclear event, and the fundies are conditioned to believe it's Armageddon.
