If Bush Is The Essential "Anti-Terrorism President"...
...why is the threat of terrorist attacks against America so imminent and the alerts heard so often?

Judging by what we see and hear from the media this country is under siege by al Qaeda and their minions. Can this be what life is like when we have a president so skilled at fighting terrorism and so celebrated for his efforts?

Shouldn't this contradiction be obvious to all thinking adults?

1. I'm pretty sure it is...
Every time they drag out the rainbow alert systems, Americans have to digest the contradictory "We are safer" "We're more threatened" ideas one more time. It's only hurting the message they're trying to send.

2. If I were Bush . . .
I would be telling the American people that through our diligence we are safer & point out that there have been no more attacks. Instead, he muddies the issue with the 'we are safe/we are not safe' contradictions.

3. Here's the script
Outcome 1: America is not attacked again before election. Meme: This is ONLY because of what George W Bush has done to protect our nation. We need to re-elect him so we continue to be safe. We cannot risk trying a different adminstration when this one is so clearly defending us so brilliantly and successfully.

Outcome 2: America is attacked before the election. Meme: This proves beyond any doubt that our nation is against powerful enemies that wish to destroy us -- just like George W Bush has been warning us! This proves that we need a resolute war time Commander in Chief to fight them, as he so bravely fought against them after Sept 11.

Hey -- Mr Rove has got all bases covered. Yes -- it's all bullshit. And although he is being humiliated in public for saying so -- Howard Dean is correct is pointing out that terror alerts are being used politically -- they're trying to silence him for being honest about it.

The only thing that Mr Rove *doesn't* have covered is that most Americans have made up their minds one way or another about Bush. Believe me, a lot of people who don't like Michael Moore or read DU or like Howard Dean or even consider themselves Democrats DISTRUST Bush because they are figured it out using their own eyes and ears. An attack on the US will NOT have the "bounce" that the facists hope it will, nor will the proposed October Surprise, because many people already mistrust Bush, know that he lies, and know on the basis of his past behavior that he will pull some shit like this for purely political reasons.
