1. another way to interpret it
If there is a new "credible" threat every time the Bush administration receives bad news, isn't this a sign that they want Bush to stay in power? If Kerry gets good news, there is a new threat to the US, because they do not want Kerry to win. If your right-wing friends refuse to believe that Bush would politicize terrorism, than ask why the terrorists only make threats when Kerry is getting good news.

6. hubby wants to know "Why would the terrorists care? They don't
Edited on Sun Aug-01-04 04:13 PM by AZDemDist6
care who's in power. That's saying the US prez has power over terrorists, which he doesn't. Jihad doesn't look at presidents"

hubby understands what you are trying to say, but thinks since Kerry has an exit strategy and Bush is building long term bases over there, it would make more sense they would not under cut Kerry, if they cared. The alerts actually are a function of the government, not the terrorists.

4. The last time there was a "terra threat" ,
The last time thgis happened, as I recall, a CNN online poll showed that ~90% thought the threat was bull.

The time before that , Tom Ridge was as surprised as anyone when Ashcroft announced a heightened terra alert.

Whats got me WORRIED now, is that, for the citizenry to continue believe these "threats", theres gonna have to be some explosions!

7. Even my Repug Aunt and Uncle have noticed that. . . .
Of course, for the first time in about 30+ years, they're thinking about voting Democratic this year--see--some Repugs do have brains and occasionally, use them!
