Just said this was a result of Bush's leadership.

5. My jaw literally dropped at that line and then they try to argue that this
isn't political in any way.

:wow:

I'm actually glad they made it so blatantly political with that statement.

2. He's full of cattle dung...

No specifics, as usual, then says that all of his information came about due to the President's security measures... (is he also making a hidden attempt to push through Patriot II - The Wrath of Traitor?

He's shoveling it real thick.

Amusingly, the only station in my area that isn't showing this tripe is FOX. :-)

7. I didn't hear it, fill me in
I just can't tolerate cable news anymore. Are you guys saying that, once again, there's NO specific threat or new threat; that they just decided to raise the alert level to orange for some vague "security reasons".

8. He used a press conference..
on elevated terror alert levels to stump for Bush.

Totally inappropriate, at the very least.

9. They actually named buildings
in danger this time to try to make it more believable AND raised the color. Guess they got laughed at too much last alert.

10. He said that the reason we know all we know so we can raise the alert and
thwart the attack is "because of the leadership of the President".

I paraphrased because I haven't seen the full quote (since I heard it) and it surprised and shocked me by the blatant political nature of the comment.

11. Here is the actual quote: (Thanks to a DU'er who TIVO'ed it-Girl Gone Mad)
Edited on Sun Aug-01-04 01:47 PM by k in IA
"We must understand that the kind of information available to us today is the result of the president's leadership in the war against terror. The reports that have led to this alert are the result of offensive intelligence and military operations overseas, as well as strong partnerships with our allies around the world such as Pakistan."

17. Could they be more transparent?
Who are these people if the intelligence is so wonderful. You don't get intelligence on specific attacks without somebody knowing the exact person it came from. Who are they? Why aren't we "smokin' 'em out of their caves"?

14. You speak the truth, Walt!
When my husband and I were watching the Ridge press conference, I said, "He's making a campaign speech for Bush!" Disgusting.

16. what about the big problem here: who can talk about this among dems?
I know Dean did, but he's going to be marginalized for that; just watch

they will not ALLOW dems to accuse pugs of playing politics with this, and I'll bet Kerry or Edwards will not TOUCH it; indeed, will give a Lieberman-like answer when questioned on it

is this a Win-Win for the fascistas?

how do dems handle this?

18. What good is this vague information if we're not told what to do?
Why tell us at all if there's nothing specific we can do about it? Or are we supposed to dig bomb shelters in our back yards today and round up all our arab neighbors? I just don't get it.
