Why don't the Democrats censure Zell Miller?
They should force his hand and throw his ass across the aisle. It's pathetic that a democrat is out there denouncing HIS OWN PARTy!!!! It's enough that the republicans are shitting on us but to have one of our own is intolerable. If he is to speak at the rePublican convention, we should THROW HIS ASS OUT!!!!!!! Embarass his ass.

1. I agree.
I have had the opportunity to ask the GA party Chairman and terry McAuliffe about this, and they both say that ignoring him is the best strategy.

I hope they know something I don't, because disowning him loudly and clearly and calling him out on his BS seems like the best strategy to me.

4. I agree with those two worthies.
Don't make him a cause celebre'. He has done a fine job of marginalizing himself. After all, what political future does he really have? Who's really listening to the poor man?

6. Don't make him a martyr, just expose him for the fraud he is.
He's out there using Democrats money to spew vile against them. This is horseshit. The "party faithful" are being fucked over. It's one thing to bitch about your party and try to correct that, but when he goes to the refucklican convention and shits on us he should be GONE.

7. Disowning Zell right before the RNC Convention may embarrass him
Edited on Sun Aug-01-04 09:12 AM by RatTerrier
I think an embarrassing disowning of Zell right before the RNC Convention will mute his message a bit.

Doing nothing will just make the DNC look spineless.

And it is possible for a party to boot out a member. The GOP did this to a council member in Washington, DC who refused to support Dumbya. The fact that the council member is openly gay likely had something to do with it as well.

2. Why should they make him a martyr?
After all, if he is the best the repukes can do, winning the election is a lead pipe cinch.

Miller gets his forums because he is a Traditional Geek: A side-show act that performs the equivalent of biting the heads off of chickens and drinking their blood, to the delight of crowds that are even stupider than him.

Consider which is sadder: Miller, or those that give him a forum for his bile.

15. For God's sake, he's to address the RNC!
If Miller is not censured, not only does the Democratic leadership lack backbone, they have no pride in their party.

3. Would the lack of sufficient guts and spine to combat an opposition
willing to resort to any tactics to win be a possible answer?

8. Let Zel rot in his own filth...the press will run...
with the story and will ignore the Kerry campaign 100%. Zel is not as effective as Ron and Nancy Reagan. The repigs are fuming at Ron. I even heard that pretty boy Steve Ford son of xPrez Ford, call Ron 'dishonest and dirtying the legacy of his own father.' Whaoo Steve, aren't you the way dirtying the legacy of your own father? You're a so called actor but nobody has ever seen you act....You can't even do that right.

9. Ignoring him is right.....
...his speech will never top one of ours....and if you censure him they will spin it into us trying to drown out the truth! I think he looked like a whining, outside of the loop, has been on MTP - his arguments weren't credible and Tim 'delicately' showed that with his follow-ups. Tim could have blown the man out of the water but didn't humiliate him.

His performance on Tim Russert proves he is senile.

His talking points are pathetic.

12. There ought to be a way to muzzle him. . .
isn't there anything the party can do to contain him?

17. What I don't know is.....
...wheather or not he was a stinking scumbag hypocrite for 99% or his political career or if he's a loathsome scumbag opportunist this last year. It's got to be one way or the other. Well, I guess it could be both.

The Democratic party has moved too far to the left recently?!? For God's sake! For better or worse, the Democratic party is as conservative now as it's ever been. But then again, I feel I'm trying to inject logic into a situation where it's obviously not appropriate.

My only question at this point is what's this scumbags angle. He's obviously at the end of his political career. Is it just that he's a sniveling whore for the lime light, or is he just trying to line up another gig. Somewhere where his "fair and balanced" points of view would be appreciated to their fullest.

Fuck Zell and the elephant he's riding out on!!!

13. Thanks, Tommy!!!
If Zell were booted the day he appeared on stage w/ chimp, he wouldn't be at the GOP convention, he wouldn't be the whores' poster boy for Chimp's "bipartisan" popularity, and he wouldn't even have been on MTP today.

So why is he still around? Mostly because Tom Daschle has to get reelected in a Republican state. Kicking a conervative dem out wouldn't make Tom llok like the moderate he needs to be.

Why do we have a majority leader who has to run a tough race in a rethug state instead of a majority leader who can be senator for life in a solid dem state? Now, that's a better question.

14. The problem is image
If the Democratic Party were to denounce Zellout, the Repukes would be in a perfect position to look like the "big tent" party and appeal to moderates/undecideds. I agree that the best strategy is to simply ignore him.

16. He is not a moderate....HE IS CAMPAIGNING FOR BUSH*
That is not a moderate. That is radical. Ignoring him will not make him go away. If McCain had applauded Kerry and talked up Kerry and put down his own party, the repub hate machine would have turned on him with a vengence. I think the dem party could politely ask him to cross the aisle and don't return. He is like an internal cancer. Cut him Out.

18. Did not mean to say Zell was the moderate
I was implying that by booting his ass out of our party, it makes the Democrats look intolerant of disent. That sets the Republicans up to look like a open-minded, big tent party. That image could appeal to moderates, especially after the GOP spins it to death.

19. I understand what you meant. I think when someone turns coat
in a political party and not only goes against that party, but actively goes out and campaigns for the opposing party, their opinions should be censored. We are a big-tent but we're not gonna let Cheney, or Mitch McConnel in. This guy has gone to the dark side and ACTIVELY worked against our candidate, I say BOOT HIS ASS.
