I'm not sure what I want to say here. Why does every generation seem to need a war? And why do we always seem to forget how ugly it is? Why do boys and men seem to 'rally around the flag'? Don't get me wrong....I love my country. It just seems like we have to sacrifice so many young men (and in recent decades it seems for nothing). Why should my friend wake up screaming in Viet Namese? Or be afraid of helicopters? What does all this shit accomplish?

let's face it, peace isn't terribly exciting. But it's a lot more survivable and healthier for our children.
