My friend, the viet nam vet
I'm not sure what I want to say here. Why does every generation seem to need a war? And why do we always seem to forget how ugly it is? Why do boys and men seem to 'rally around the flag'?
Don't get me wrong....I love my country. It just seems like we have to sacrifice so many young men (and in recent decades it seems for nothing).
Why should my friend wake up screaming in Viet Namese? Or be afraid of helicopters?
What does all this shit accomplish?

1. Hmm....I think most people on this board were...
Against this since the beginning. Looking at the big picture, it's organizations like PNAC and the members who come up many crazy ideas which are the true sources of problems that we are facing. This combined with an apathetic American public and Press has been a disasterous mix....

2. I heard some idiot (republican woman) say
that war is good for the economy. I was shocked. I wouldn't trade my child for money. Or someone else's either.

This shit appeals to people who were delighted by the video-game graphics of the first Gulf war and are turned on by violence. One 'purpose' it serves is to provide a socially acceptable outlet for aggression- and those who love to watch.

let's face it, peace isn't terribly exciting. But it's a lot more survivable and healthier for our children.
