Here's a comeback to those who question the purple hearts...
Edited on Sat Jul-31-04 04:19 PM by nyhuskyfan
During the time the United States was in Vietnam, John Kerry received three purple hearts. Meanwhile, Bush and Cheney combined to receive three drunk driving convictions.

They all fully earned what they received.

1. And receiving a Purple Heart means that you were actually in combat...
...not finding creative ways of avoiding the service.

2. That's a pretty good one.
Let's not forget that Kerry also won a bronze medal and silver star (or whatever they're called), in addition to the 3 Purple Hearts. That's a heck of a lot of medals for someone to be claiming they're "fake." So if one was unjustified, we're left with only FOUR medals....oh, boo hoo!

Of course, ALL of them were justified, by definition, since he rec'd them. I don't think these medals are an issue for anyone with half a brain, except extreme GOPers who try to use it for an argument talking point.

3. Kerry received the Silver star, the Bronze star, 3 Purple Hearts,
and Bush had his teeth cleaned.

6. Not just a Bronze Star but a Bronze Star with 'V' Device
Edited on Sat Jul-31-04 04:39 PM by Toots
That is an award for extreme Valor which makes him a true American Hero. Actually it is a lessor award than the Silver Star but the Silver Star is only for Valor where the Bronze Star can be for Merit or Valor either one.

7. My first question back is
"do you have one". If they don't then they should join up and go show me what you really have to do to be awarded one.

We used to joke about the Purple Heart being the enemy's marksmanship award. But, it does prove a few things

1) You had to be in a combat zone to get it, not sitting out 4 deferments in Wyoming

2) You had to be injured by enemy projectile, not crashing a plane in Lubbock TX

Get my drift
