Last night here in Tucson, Arizona. The local media spent MORE time interviewing and taping the protesters outside (which I will get to in a minute) than they did asking the people who are supporting Kerry their feelings and impressions of the man and the direction of the campaign.
Speaking of the protester who are protesting the Democratic party, this basically sums them up:
When I said Bush is destroying the freedoms I, as a future constitutional lawyer, hold dear, their response was "The constitution is a nightmare that is used by the white power elite to control and oppress dissent."
When I asked if they thought this country could survive another four years of Bush, I got a lot of puzzled looks and was told: "Why should we care. We don't care about this country. It's not what I want."
Not to sound conservative, but that attitude pissed me off. I criticize my country and my government daily, as any good American should and must. But the fact that I was told that "I don't care about my country" bothers me.
I love my country, but those who scream that dissent is unpatriotic and anti-American (neo-cons and Freepers) and those who say "I don't care about America" (the protesters I ran into) really should be questioned about their loyalty to our country.
This is how I feel deep down. When I tried to talk to them about what I believe Kerry/Edwards would do for this country, I was told I was "a Republican in denial" and to "go murder more Iraqis."
If this is who is protesting against us, and if this is what was outside the Fleet Center in Boston, are you are angry at these people as you are at the Bush camp?
These people pissed me off so much, I was actually calm angry.
