I wouldn't consider myself to be extremely liberal either.

I'm kind of anti-abortion but not to the point where I oppose Roe vs. Wade.

I'm pro gun. The 2nd Ammendment is pretty clear. But I don't think people need an AK-47 for hunting.

I'm pro death penalty but only if the system is reformed to provide life in prison (NO PAROLE) for cases not proven by DNA.

I am not totally anti-war either. In fact, this war is really the first one (In my adult life)I have been opposed to. I thought Gulf War 1 was necessary because Iraq had invaded and occupied a foreign nation. We had a mission to remove them from Kuwait. We removed them and stopped there. I supported the bombing of Serbia during the Kosovo conflict, mostly because I am good friends with a Bosnian and I learned all about Mr. Milosevic. We had zero casualties and we stopped ANOTHER genocide. I supported the war in Afghanistan because of Sept. 11th. I do not believe the theory that Bush was behind that day. They are too stupid to have come up with that. My problem with Gulf War 2 has always been with what is going on now. WE HAVE CREATED A MUCH BIGGER THREAT THEN BEFORE. Instead of finishing, and rebuilding, we have totally ignored Afghanistan. In the meantime we've created the largest terrorist training camp in the world. It's called Iraq.

So why do I hang out at DU other than the war???

I support workers rights and I believe in the ability of unions to improve the lives of American workers.

I support fiscal responsibility (It's no longer a conservative value).

I support full funding of all education Kindergarten through Grad School for all fifty states.

I am not a racist or a bigot.

I believe in free speech and healthy debate.

I'm fairly moderate, left-center myself, and I don't have any trouble getting along with "the present DU crowd". I eat meat and love college football (avid Nebraska fan). I don't give a shit about NASCAR either way. I don't own a gun but I don't object to others owning one. So, I think we can eliminate your position on the issues as the source of your problem.

Don't have a gun, but used to shoot. However, I do see the need for more control than we have presently - I used to live in England, and belonged to a rifle club. I cannot see what is wrong with having controls in place that put at least as many restrictions on owning a gun as there are on owning a car.
Don't understand American football, baseball, soccer, golf, NASCAR, or just about any other sport that attracts fanatic fans. Though I do like a good bicycle race.
