Why we're scared about a terrorist attack in Boston
They want you to be scared. They need you to be scared. They love it when you're scared. So everyone take a deep breath...

There won't be an attack on Boston this coming week.

Al Qaeda wouldn't go after so obvious a target. For you tinfoilers out there, the BFEE wouldn't stage a faux terror attack while Bush is on his ranch. The choreography is all wrong; they'd wait until his's on the job (which admittedly gives terrorists a pretty small window of opportunity). The wingnut survivalists can't project force that far east of Wyoming. We'll get thru this week all safe.

The only reason to be scared is because the present administration has been playing us like this for three years. But a better man once said we have nothing to fear but fear itself. Let's not let that man down.

1. I think they are using fear as a way to round up the
protestors (the anti-war protestors will go to both conventions). By the time of the Rupug convention, they will have people so afraid of "terra" that they will have impunity to stomp down on anyone who steps out of line.

I agree with you, I will not fall for this line of BS.

2. On the news they mentioned threats from RW anti-abortion groups
which I think is way more realistic than Al-Qaida.

9. I Hope Kerry's Got His Kevlar Suit Ready
The RW fundie types seem to forget the 1st Commandment sometimes.

3. Not to mention ...
... a 'terra' threat is a really, really good excuse to have extra added searches and surveillance of just exactly who is in attendance at the Dem convention ... :tinfoilhat:

Smile and say "cheese" DU'ers ... you're on Asskrack's camera !!

4. Just for your peace of mind, I would recommend a few preparations
Edited on Fri Jul-23-04 07:18 PM by Stephanie

After weathering 9/11/01 and the NYC Blackout in Manhattan, I learned that having certain supplies on hand made me feel more confident under duress. You should have:

  • Some cash stowed away, in case there's no power and the ATM's fail
  • A radio that runs on batteries
  • Batteries
  • A landline phone (which will work without electricity)
  • A jug of water
  • Enough of a pantry to get you through a few days
  • Some thought about what you would want to save from your apartment and what's the best way to do that

Not to be alarming - I really really don't believe anything will happen - but you'll feel more powerful if you're prepared for any contingency.

5. sometime last week Kerry said the Dems would have excellent security
and he was not worried. I take him as the authority these days, not the admin.

6. There won't be an attack, because ...
... then we can say, "AHA, the DEOMCRATIC Convention was attacked while it was supposedly being protected by a REPUBLICAN administration (Homeland Security and so forth).

That would look reaaaaal bad.
