Linux Users: Let's get to watch Frontline's Online Content too!
Today, here on DU, someone posted a link to a lot of Frontline streaming content. Tons of stuff, full of the tasty goodness that we have all come to expect from PBS and Frontline. Off I went, with visions of muckraking dancing in my head. When I got there, I set to salivating.Nothing but the best they have to offer, in Windows and Real format.

But it was not to be. I could not watch it. It is presented in a format that won't work on Linux.

I sent them an email, stating my problems and asking for a solution. I was mannerly to a fault. I received a response from the Frontline admin, stating that PBS will only allow it to be presented in a format that effectively locks out Linux users. It does allow Windows and OS X. He said that Linux Users should write them and let them know that they, too, want to watch the online content.

So write, peeps. Today.

2. Yes, but...
Real does not embed in webpages in Linux, and there's the problem. Or one of them.

6. Is this because of gcc 3.x?
I realize that real player for unix is compiled with gcc 2.x and is incompatibale with gcc 3.x binaries(newer linux and mozilla releases). but there are workarounds

I guess you could also try the Helix player

4. Yep.
Doesn't embed. PBS *only* wants embedded players. They have already received a good amount of mail about this. The admin says that he knows that Linux users are locked out. Wants mail to pass on to the bigs.

5. Can't you Wine IE, though?
Or do you need Cedega to do the embedded stuff?
