If America Were Iraq?
A comment I heard during the East Coast blackout got me thinking...someone mentioned that now the folks in U.S. will see how it feels to live in Baghdad. That got me thinking and I'd enjoy other feedback.

If the tables were turned, if America had been the one invaded, how would you resist?

Would you be collaborate to protect your family? Would you display some form of civil disobidience? Would you attempt to flee? Would you take up arms and fight?

1. If my country were invaded
wouldn't resisting the invaders the patriotic thing to do?

As much as I despise George W Bush & Co, I wouldn't want foreign troops in my country.

Okay, so as bad as Bush is, it's nothing like what Saddam Hussein was in Iraq, but still....

3. well...
Definitely I would resist in mind and spirit...as I'm sure almost every Iraqi is doing.

Sure, the romantic dream is to become some partisan, joining a militia in the mountains or some lone patriot taking on a whole platoon with a shotgun or M-16. Think of all the resistance leaders we have...Stallone, Willis and Ahnuld <g>

I'm taking this to how an occupation would really effect your life. How would an Iraqi-style invasion and strict military occupation affect what you do and how would you show any form of resistance.

Being one that doesn't, nor wants to own a gun, I feel my skills in other areas would be far more beneficial to creating the havoc and mayhem we are starting see become effective in Iraq. For example, assist in a clandestine message system of some sort...email, carrier pidgeon, etc.

This is just one example...I figured there's be some good stuff to chew on.

If I really wanted a good laugh, I'd post it on Free Republic

2. I'd take up arms and fight
Thank goodness we have the right to keep and bear arms.

4. Yes...
and that million man military and thousands of nuclear warheads doesn't hurt either...

Any nation powerful enough to overcome those odds is more than likely going to turn you into red mist should you pick up that 9 mm handgun, or pump action shotgun.

Still, dreams are free.

So, who wants to watch Red Dawn?
