Aaron Brown replied to my email!
How do you like that? I sent him an email asking him to have Joe Conason on to talk about "Big Lies". He wrote back saying before he would consider it he wanted to know who was organizing the letter writing campaign. Of course it's MWO and I told him so. I like Aaron Brown. He, more than most cable news types, really tries to cover the story right. So, it's Aaron Brown and Helen Thomas as the only media types I've ever emailed who have sent personal replies. :)

1. He's answered me several times...
Pretty rare for a journalist. So has Maureen Dowd- but I'm pretty sure it was her assistant doing all the writing.

Great job Hootie on trying to reach out to the media people!

I give you a 10- out of 10.

3. I agree, Aaron's OK on that score
He also replied to me, not once but a couple times.

Of course, he's too deep in the forest to see the trees. The VRWC Fantasy Bubble now encompasses "conventional wisdom".

But at least he listens (even if he dismisses) and responds.

2. He responded! Great! I still think he's a sack of shit
Sorry but his coverage of the other side is always too little too late. He's definitely on my list of people to send kneepads to.

4. he's paid the price for his mild mannered reporting...
His tepid coverage of Bush's* Iraq Invasion put him off prime time.

5. Holy crap! He replied to my reply!
He said he figured it was MWO. He's unlikely to book him because it's a news show and not a talk show. He also said that he gets a lot of emails about Ann Coulter but has never had her on and that the show takes some pride in being a Coulter free zone. Ha :) He did say that there were probably other shows on CNN where he would be on.

6. Uh oh!
Now you did it. All of the lurking Freepers are going to start a campaign to take him to task for saying that he takes pride in being Coulter-free. How dare he bash their goddess! LOL!

9. Aaron Brown responded to my email as well
Edited on Tue Aug-19-03 05:59 PM by jfkennedy
Aaron Brown responded to my email, regarding Trent Lott before he stepped down as majority leader in the Senate.

Sam Donaldson responded to me as well regarding Kissinger and the 9/11 cover-up.

13. A Couple of m.o.(s)
O'REILLY insists on "name and town"

John GIBSON won't accept/read any that are addressed to multiple outlets, only to him.

I suspect Tweety reads some, from on-air coded replies, but his MSNBC form reply (like OLBERMAN's) says they get "tons" of e-mail. Since he has bottom-dwelling ratings, I wonder who writes besides me.

14. I've had replies
from Helen Thomas, Eric Alterman (several times and he's used stuff I've sent), Glenn Reynolds (snippy) and (gasp) Andrew Sullivan. Actually, Sullivan was quite nice - after the Santorum thing I wrote and asked him how long it would take him to figure out that he could be gay and conservative, but (with the way things are now) he couldn't possibly be gay and Republican. He wrote back that he still holds hope for them, etc. I think he's self-delusional and naive, but it was a very civil discourse.

Edited on Tue Aug-19-03 06:16 PM by Jacobin
pursuing its job as a government watchdog and why it is now a mouthpiece for those in power. Specifically, why did they suppress relatively widely know stories about the doubts of those who said the information about WMD in Iraq and their intent to "use" these non-existent weapons were suspect and why they failed to investigate the claims of the government. Why did they carry his pre-war "press conference" and pretend that it was real, when it was an orchestrated propaganda piece to justify invading a sovereign country.

Ask him how much it took for CNN to buy his soul.

Let me know what he says.
