The Democrats 11th Commandment: No attacking fellow Dems
We've had too much of that since Bush's coup in Nov-Dec 2000. Let's join our efforts. Listen politely to all the candidates and promise to support whoever wins.

This is still a democracy and we can vote for whoever we wish in the primaries. But I say lets not attack each other and go after Bush.

2. That rule is subject to interpretation
It really depends on who the attacking Democrat identifies as a Democrat and who they identify as a mole.

4. physically: no; verbally: yes
I won't physically harm anyone but I will stand up for what is right in the world...the end to american empire. If Democratic candidates support this(which most do)...I will let my voice be heard.

6. no way

I say we fight as often as we feel like it and hash things out in the nasty, messy way progressive, THINKING people do. If you believe in it, you'll fight for it. It's just that simple.

I agree with the sentiment that we do it in the company of other Democrats, or at least progressives though. When the real opponents are around it's time to show some loyalty to each other and show the strength in our numbers.

7. True
but at some point the wrong thing will be said, the raw nerve may be exposed, or feelings hurt over the smallest imagined insult. As long as we deal in a respectful way with each other, then have at it.

8. I disagree. But, I think that attacks among Dems should be respectful.
So maybe an "11th Commandment" that says:

When attacking fellow Dems, thou shalt show respect in thou attacks. :)

9. The Dems attack Nader
Edited on Tue Aug-19-03 01:22 AM by Ein
I'm sorry, but I am grateful for what Nader has done in the past, and I do not blame him for 2k (it was stolen by the republicans).

The Democrats attack me and thier most popular nominee is Centrist, he does not represent my views.

If a far right winger is in office, and they are not going to run a Liberal for office, they are not getting my vote. At all. I don't care about stealing this and that vote, any liberal I vote for earns my vote. Peace.

If the Dems don't attack and point out the hypocrosies in each other, the party is fucking doomed. The people on this board have disenfranchised me more than any other point in my life.

Ein - Another "wrong kind of left"

11. The Greens have a got a problem
They split the left leaning vote. You've heard it all before I'm sure. It's time for you Greens to figure out what you want more, to support the things you talk about (environmental issues, fair labor practices, etc.) or keep talking about it. Nader getting 2% of the vote again could easily be the difference between something much worse than the Clear Sky's Initiative, the Patriot Act, Faith Based programs, a warmongering foreign policy, or a chance at a return to sanity (or at the very least stalling for time).

For people that understand tree-spiking (making a choice of action to protect what you value) I find it amazing, the denial of responsibility, when you just stand there and say, "It's not my fault."

You had an opportunity to support someone that wouldn't butcher what you stand for, against someone who YOU KNEW WOULD!

So I respectfully request you write to your party leaders and at the very least tell them to stop with the rhetoric, that there is no difference between Democrats and Republicans. It undermines the people that are your natural allies, and the people that actually support your causes unlike your own leadership.

10. I call you on your bullshit, "Jeter"....
that's a nice sentiment from someone who was bashing Gray Davis on another thread started by another waste of space, VoteClark.

Your hypocrisy is exceeded only by your stunning ignorance.

12. Ignorance of what?
1) Davis isn't running for President.
2) Davis will bring down the whole democratic party.
3) Before the recall, Davis was as unpopular among Democrats as he was among republicans.

I'm not a hypocrit.

13. Voting in a primary is not Democracy...
...but voting in national elections and having your vote count IS Democracy.

14. Why are you saying these things?
Just because you say it, it doesn't make it true.

Explain where you get these statements. The only one I can agree with is the first one. No, Davis isn't running for President. Davis can't bring down the whole Democratic party by himself, so that is a ridiculous statement. If Davis was so unpopular among the Democrats, no one would have voted for him. You are going to have to have some concrete facts to back these statements.
