Help my campaign webpage???
As I build my campaign's webpage (and try to get everything else done at the same time), I have discovered I need a little help.

For my "On The Issues" section, I need topics. So here's your challenge....

Name as many politically-oriented topics as you can that I should offer my stance on.

Go!

1. Veterans' benefits being cut.
Education, and the way "No Child Left Behind" is frustrating teachers.

Cutting social spending programs that benefit the increasingly working class.

8. 2 big issues (one VERY current)
1 - the Hoover Company is leaving town very soon...thousands will be out of work.

2 - The First Ladies Library acquired the land next to it (Rotary Park), and immediately tore up the brick walkway, which was filled with memorial bricks. People had paid money to place their loved ones' names on bricks to rest in this park, and NO warning was given to the people.

The person who made the decision to rip up the bricks...my opponent's wife!

4. AWD... don't forget: all politics are local

while positions on national issues are important...

you need to have CLEAR positions on LOCAL issues.

and you need to put those UP FRONT.

hope you get major feedback from your potential constituents on what issues will MAKE the election for you.

nost

(as soon as you want your campaign URL posted, let me know and I'll get it on the ?W site. we (I???) will be going a new *push* after labor day and I'd be happy to add a group of 'our candidates' to the LINKS page)

10. Labor Day is launching day
I launch the website the morning of Labor Day, then off to a Bush protest, then my campaign announcement to the locals.

then, starting at 5pm, I do an online fundraiser for 24 hours.

5. LABOR, LABOR, LABOR
Latest thing on the labor front - tech jobs being exported overseas. These are some of America's best jobs, and Americans should do them.

6. Here's one for you
Don't know if it will have any relevence in your distrcit, but it's important to me in NC, probably elswhere too.

Currently, the FAA, which is charged with facilitating the expansion of the airline industry, conducts its own environmental reviews for airport expansions, runway additions, etc. In the case that I'm aware of, they relied heavily on environmental "analysis" provided by the key beneficiary of the proposed airport expansion (an air cargo shipper). The FAA is hardly equiped to evaluate environmental impacts, and its mission puts it in conflict with making sound environmental evaluations.

Would you support putting the EPA in charge of environmental reviews for federal agencies?

9. Schools and education
Eliminate unfunded mandates inherent in No Child Left Behind.

Eliminate the "highly qualified" teacher requirement in NCLB

Raise the reimbursement rate for special education

Eliminate the "reduced" category in the National School Lunch Program - allow all free & reduced-qualified children to eat free in the National School Lunch Program

Federal capital construction money for schools

More research into the impact of charter schools on educational performance - linked to changes in state and federal mandates for charters to take over "low" performing schools

Study inequities inherent in state funding formula for local school districts. Rectify.

Those are a few I thought of on the fly.
