DeLay: Texas Dems violating Texas Constitution to Support US Constitution
This man is unreal. From the Houston Chronicle - Tom DeLay weighs in on the Texas Democrats who fled to New Mexico:

"We're supposed to, by Constitution, apportion or redistrict every 10 years," DeLay, R-Sugar Land, said on Fox News Sunday. "We in Texas have prided ourselves on honor, duty and responsibility. Unfortunately, the Democrats in the state Legislature don't understand honor because they're violating their oath of office to support the United States Constitution."

First, you already redistricted in 2001! You don't need to do so again until 2011!

Also, here's an excerpt from Article VI of the United States Constitution:

This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.

2. Well apparently
the US Constitution is null and void when it comes to Texas politics and Tom Delay. The idiot repugs controlling the legislature aren't happy with the lines drawn in 2001 and are trying to force a vote now that would permanently give them control. Dem staffers had their cell phones cut off and parking spaces taken away to try to bully the Dems into coming home. If it weren't so sad it would be funny.

3. the Texas Constitution
is clear, the legislature is supposed to do redistricting based on the census. when the last group couldn't agree on redistricting, the courts did it. the courts aren't supposed to redistrict, the legislature is.

IMO, the dems are in the wrong in Texas, and I vote for them every election. I understand what they are doing, and disagree with what they are doing. I also disagree with most of what Perry is doing with these special sessions, they are wrong as well, and costing the state a lot of money.

All in all, just a bunch of shit down here, par for the course...

if Perry had called a special session back then and done his job, the court wouldn't have needed to do it. He didn't because Democrats controlled the House and the repugs wouldn't have gained anything. It is not required to redraw the lines at this time.

7. I agree
that Perry should have done the right thing earlier, but to say it isn't "time" is wrong. All parties in this fiasco are wrong, IMO. Just because the Republicans do wrong, doesn't mean I support us Dems doing wrong to counter that. I was very proud of the Supreme Court of Texas doing their job with honor and integrity, even though they are Republicans. I wish the politicians in this state would take that example and modify how they act...

4. Delay is Delirious
The guy's a raving lunatic, I really think the guy's certifiably insane. Bug poison ate holes in his brain. He has no grasp on reality. He should be institutionalized for the rest of his life. He's crazy, gone, looney toons.
