We, as a country, will either elect people who offer us nothing but fear and bad things to come, or we will elect people who are looking up and onward...people who, despite terrible loss, have managed to look for the best things in life and to work for those things to be part of everyones' lives. This election is about hope...something that this country was about at the time of its founding...the hope of people who had no hope in England when they sailed for this place...the hope of the Irish who had been starved on their own farms...the hope of Espanics who had been trapped only to be killed in their own lands...the hope of Asian people who had hope of self-expression...the hope of people from the middle east for safety from extremists...its all about HOPE.
I look at George W. Bush and he depresses me, and I look at Dick Cheney and he scares me...I see no HOPE there...I see fear mongering because it works politically.
I watched the Kerry/Edwards press conference in PA and I could not but think of JFK when I looked at the little boy in the shorts fidgiting...I saw the wives who obviously meant something important to these men...I thought of the future when I looked at these people and I had HOPE. This is what this election in 2004 is all about as far as I am concerned...and if we loose it, we will surely lose what it was that made us great.
