$500,000 bail for Ken Lay?????
Wow, what do you suppose he had to do to raise that kind of cake? Maybe run out to his car and grab the loose change out of the cup holder? What a joke!

1. Walking around money
Like that'll work.

See ya in the tropics, Kenney Boy!

2. Check for the change in the couch cushions?
This is obscene. Then again, maybe they didn't want too much money to take care of until The Pardon.

4. Will The Bail Bondsman
Take an Ambassadorship appointment from Bush as collateral?

5. Don't you just post 10% of that or put up your house as collateral...
or something like that?

I don't think you have to write a check for the whole amount.

Maybe someone more familiar with bail will post a reply.

So, actually, it probably was pocket change, after all.

7. I think you're right
In which case, 10 percent of $500K is a Ken Lay shower curtain. That's a laugh!

18. I don't think he needed a bondsman.
He could have just paid $500K of his own money for his freedom in another country until pardoned by Bush. How does Barbados sound for six months?

14. Difference in the bail amounts for Skilling and Lay may be because ..
Skilling has always been an insufferable, greedy and snarling egomaniac that no one liked. Lay was the affable guy giving big bucks to philanthropic causes.

I think that Lay is just as or more culpable than Skilling and Fastow, but Lay has such a public humanitarian persona that it got him a break on bail.

Skilling would be more of a risk to skip out.

8. Most accused of a white collar crime are released for a LOT
less than that. While this may sound like a small amount for a very rich man, in fact this is pretty standard. This isnt the DOJ working for Kenny boy.

Speaking as someone who knows a little bit about the federal justice system, rest assured Kenny boy is in very very deep trouble. At this point his only real recourse is the hope of a pardon from Bush and a pardon from Bush would be a death knell for his campaign right now. So he's desperate for a Bush win.

16. Kenny Boy may be desperate for a Bush loss, as this would open the
door for a pardon in January 2005. Bush can't pardon Lay as long as he's in office without a firestorm that would make the Marc Rich pardon look like a tea party.

9. It sure is a slap to those accused of petty crimes -
that have to stay in jail because they can't raise a few thousand. I hope the Jackass does run, as it will help Kerry. Then "Dog" the bounty hunter can catch him.

12. WHAT?!? I mean I KNEW the judge would be a "Nazi Judge"
of the federalist Society, but who would guess how swollen these MONSTERS are with hubris and arrogance?!?

Sadly, We the People have not given them even the tiniest inclination they they have ANYTHING to worry about if they wish to enslave us.

Not a thing.

This relatively minor Bushevik Corruption and Injustice actually rates kind of low on the Hitler Scale, which is the only scale to properly judge our Emperor* on.

19. The purpose of bail is to
ensure that the accused shows up for trial.

In most cases, I don't think there should be any bail. Only in cases where there's a risk of flight.

In my opinion, bail is unconstitutional anyway because a person is innocent until proven guilty. How can you hit him for hundreds of thousands of dollars if he's innocent.

20. In this case, Kenny Boy needs his bail set at about $150 billion
That fucker is Flight Risk Number One. He will walk out the door of the jail, get on his private Gulfstream, and we'll never see him again.

Set his bail so high not even the whole BFEE can spring his ass.
