I thought $2k is the max; but recently a senator's campaign told me $4k was...

If you're married it's $4,000, assuming both people contribute in their own name. Maybe that's what he was referring to.

I think they're saying that if you gave 2000 to the primary campaign, you can give another 2000 after the primary. I could be totally wrong.
