The good thing about the Davis recall
is that it's distracting time, energy and funds from the GOP's senate campaign. Boxer already only has one announced opponent, but with all the money and time being spent on the recall, that's less going to their campaign against her. It pretty much guarantees Boxer another 6 years. If the recall fails it'll be the ultimate example of the Repukes shooting themselves in the foot, and Davis stays in anyway and another Senate seat slips through their grasp.

1. Perfect example of the pukes myopia
because if they were to wait for Davis to complete his term they would easily win the governorship. Instead they want to pursue this with reckless abandon.

If Davis is thrown out then a puke will have to answer for the mess that's still going to be there long after he's replaced.

The recall effort is being financed by a man who will assuredly lose any potential election to the likes of Swarzenneger or Rice. Issa will get nothing out of the deal except a lot of exposure-for stealing cars and trying to shaft people in the process.

The Democrats need to do more to stand behind Davis but I suppose there's always a silver lining.

3. RE: they would easily win the governorship???
You don't live here do you?

They don't call it the 'left coast' for nothing!:)

Please check the little letter after the names of the people in our state government and tell me what I'm missing. :)

Please tell me why you think we'd elect a Republican as Governor after all the nice things Repubs have done to us? You seem to have forgotten that I, like most other Californians, (try to) pay an electric bill every month! Do you believe we're that stupid or just very, very forgiving? :)

4. unfortunately, I'm afraid that it really could happen....
The beauty of this strategy (from the repigs' perspective) is that if the recall vote succeeds, the gubernatorial election is a winner take all free-for-all. Dem voter apathy (recall the low turnout during 2002) could very well allow a repig take-over by less than 20 percent of the elctorate.

If this recall goes to the ballot, and I think it will, Gray Davis should resign. The stakes are just to high to play political games with this....

2. The BAD thing regarding the Senate race
and the recall is that fighting the recall is going to divert funds that should go to Boxer's re-election and instead using them to try and save Davis. Then when the Senate election comes along, no funds...just what the reporkers want I'm sure. :-(
