Update...and a little help, please...

It referred to a conversation that was on a local AM station last Friday (at 5:19pm to be exact). The converstion was as follows (paraphrased):

Caller: We need to make sure "Hitlery" NEVER gets nominated for President.

Luke McCoy: By any means necessary...

Caller: We can't take that chance. If she gets nominated, she might win. We HAVE to prevent it.

Luke McCoy: By any means necessary...

Caller: I say, if we can't knock her out using our soap box, and we can't trust the ballot box, we could always go get a little help from the "CARTRIDGE BOX."

Here is my update:

I called the radio station. They claimed that they don't keep recordings or transcripts of any of their shows. They also laughed when I repeated the conversation that I had heard...telling me that Mr. McCoy has First Ammendment rights to say whatever he wants on the air. I told them that the First Ammendment doesn't protect those who threaten the lives of others. I demanded a retraction. Again, I was laughed at and eventually hung up on.

Then, I called Senator Clinton's offices and was referred to her voice mail both times. Of course, I left a brief message, but I don't know what will come of it.

Then, I called the FCC. Talk about a voice mail run-around. After pushing several buttons (as the recording instructed), I finally got a recording telling me that the volume of calls was too high, and I can try back later.

Then, I called the Secret Service...who were very cordial on the phone and actually seemed interested in what I had to say. They said that they would review the tapes and determine what action needed to be taken. When I told him that they claimed that they don't keep tapes or transcripts, he laughed and told me that they do...that they just won't admit it to someone that calls and complains about something they said on the air. They also said that calling the FBI would be a waste of time, and that calling the Secret Service was the right thing to do. Finally a voice of reason. :)

Anyhow, now I am asking for your help. This guy (Luke McCoy) has a call in radio show that airs from 4:00pm to 5:30pm (Central Time). It would be wonderful if some of you would call this idiot and give him a piece of your mind. I'd sure love to hear some DU voices on this right wing show. If not, could you please drop him an e-mail? The information (including and updated e-mail address) is as follows:

2. Besides the Secret Service...

Besides the Secret Service, there may be other numbers at the
Department of Homeland Security that you can call.

They seem to have been chartered for just this sort of thing
("terroristic threats" against our government).

Are you IN P'cola? I'm in FWB. I'm asking b/c it's surprising to see a fellow Democrat, who lives so close (if the radio station is an accurate indication) and also frequents DU.

5. Yep...

I do live in Pensacola. And I know exactly how you feel. It seems like I am surrounded by the right wing here. They are everywhere! On the radio, the TV, and in the paper. I must admit, however, that the Pensacola News Journal's editorial page has had some pretty good letters there lately. Stuff about Bush lying about Iraq, etc. They seldom seem to show up in Sunday's paper, but they have been fairly consistant during the week. And this last Sunday's paper did have one or two good ones, as I recall. It is shocking, I know...but hopeful.

So, you're not alone, even if it seems that way sometimes. :)
