Moseley-Braun and Lieberman: Are There Any Supporters still on DU?
I've seen genuine momentum from almost every candidate except for Carol and Joe, with the exception of an occasional troll (one Mosley-Braun supporter kept referring to women as "wymen"). So what I'm asking is, is there any grass roots momentum for Lieberman or Braun on DU?

1. there are a couple of pro-Joe sigs
but I haven't seen anyone really enthusiastic about him.

A few realists have posted to the effect that they believe he is the DLC-annointed one. Plenty of people passionately do not like him though.

Mosely Braun is an interesting one. I haven't heard any attacks at all, but no real support either. I always liked her, but her campaign and speaking appearances (so far) haven't really caught my attention at all.

I will support and vote for whoever the Democratic nominee is.

I posted something negative about her the other day, and she is the only candidate that I feel most negatively about.

She served one term in the Senate, a term filled with so much graft and corruption that the Democratic Party even offered to pay off her huge campaign debts if she would decline to run. Spent more time filling her pockets and paying out hush money to a woman who acused CMB's boyfriend of sexual harassment. Very shady dealings with her campaign funds. No real agenda.

I really do not like CMB, but I'm sure whe will be the first to drop out of the race.

I'd vote for Lieberman before I would vote for CMB, and I don't like Lieberman either.

2. I haven't witnessed any
I love her. I am glad she ran and got into the debates and forums. The issues she raised are everything we discuss on the threads everyday. She has excellent credentials. I hope she serves in any future Dem admin ( good lord willin' ). I haven't chosen a candidate yet. I think they all contribute good points...yeah even Joe has some good points and appeal.

3. Hmm, haven't heard much about Mosley-Braun lately
and I am in Illinois. Just did a news google where the newest article on her was three days ago. And that one only mentioned she was at some event with the other candidates. Doesn't sound as if there is grass roots growing for her anywhere, which is just as well

4. Moseley Braun basically ended her campaign a couple months ago..
.. word out of her campaign was that she'd close up shop in September or October I think. It was qualified with "unless she raises money.. yada yada yada"... but that's the most sure-fire way to ensure you won't be raising money, etc. etc.

If she suddenly magically did manage to start drawing support, though, I'd take a serious look. I've really liked her in the candidate forums I've seen.

5. well, you know
I try to post on CMB a couple of times a week in Politics and Campaigns (not typically in GD). Usually I get a handful of comments, some good, some not so favorable, but rarely absolute declarations of support. (The one supporter you refered to I wouldn't rush to call a troll btw, --although I'm not positive exactly where she's coming from. "Womyn" you know goes back to a prewomanist kind of radical feminism, and while I haven't seen it much in recent years, I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that it's flamebait.)

Braun's campaign has stuttered a few times, but there are bright spots on the horizon.

I've noticed a lot of people who will say positive things about her or list her among their top tier choices, but won't commit to endorsing her, either because they feel her chances are slim, or because they genuinely prefer other candidates. The better she does in the debates and cattle calls, the more exposure and positive feedback she gets. I've seen this in other forums too, e.g. smirking chimp, or MS., where there are as of yet only a handful of avowed CMB supporters, but she gets more widely noticed from time to time.

Well, I do have a lot of news and discussion starters at my finger tips, but I find myself getting bogged down in doing my homework or reacting to some broadside or just venting or chattering away on some tangent. That's part and parcel of being genuine, I guess. ;-) Sometimes I wish *anybody* with a good word for Carol would start a discussion and tend to it.

As for Lieberman, there are definitely still supporters at DU, but it must be tough as he gets a lot of flack--And I confess I haven't always been gracious in my assessments of his campaign. That's something I should work on, because I know how it feels when everybody seems to be dumping on your candidate. It's really discouraging.

Oh, and I don't think it would be easy to be a Sharpton supporter here at DU. He's been subjected to a lot of attacks and hostility. And Graham supporters I know have felt slighted by and large. Really, if you look at it I think the demographic here closeley parallels that of moveon.org, which means Dean, Kerry, Kucinich are "over-represented." That of course in part reflects the fact that their campaigns have turned to the net as an organizing tool.

6. Joe is one of my senators, and I have to say that he is not good about
getting back to constituents, even with a boilerplate. Nothing. Maybe if I had sent a letter through the P.O., but I only e-mailed and faxed. Granted, I was offering my unsolicited opinion on foreign policy, and I know for a fact that it conflicted with his own, but still... I was polite. Anyway, he's my last choice (I'm definitely ABB.)

CMB, on the other hand, I could cheerfully vote for. The only thing keeping me from pushing for her is a general sense that she can't win this time. Now, I'm wondering how many of us there are.... But still, not enough I think. Any chance for her as VP? I like the calm way she talks sense. She also has a nice sense of humor that serves her well. I'm one of the 2 (at the time of my voting) who voted for her on the poll someone started today. I knew it was just a gesture, but I do like her, and I remain sort of undecided. I'm only passionate about a few issues--one of which is to shrink the Pentagon.

I really, really hate all the candidate bashing--another reason to like CMB (and Sharpton too). They don't bash. Advocacy is fine, but the attack mode seems so counterproductive, when we know we're all going to have to rally around one of the crowd.
