Book Review - All The Shah's Men....

Easy to read historical account of US involvement in the overthrow of the democratically elected government of Iran and the administration of Mohammad Mossedegh for private oil interests. Sound familiar?

For those readers who are aware of such activity on the part of US policy makers, this book is not a "new" revelation about US foreign policy and motives. Although the full story has never been recounted in such detail until now. A recommended read to anyone and especially right-wingers who think the US does no wrong and still believe in the tooth-ferry.

A present day conection can be seen in the book as it describes a sympathetic Truman administration (i.e. Arab Nationalism) being replaced by right-wing ideologues with a radical world view (i.e. Dulles brothers)hellbent on imposing it's will on a weaker people for private economic gain.

i have an iranian friend who has been here for oh 30ish years...his father was a high ranking general in the Shah's army. and our gov't gave his family sancuary...can't wait to debate this book with him :7

3. For a country that squawks soo much about....

freedom and liberty, the US doesn't seem to have a problem "doing business" with monarchy's. As long as they (monarchy's) follow our orders... I use the term "our" in reference to the imperialists that formulate foreign policy.
