Doesn't sound like the most democratic (over or undergound) system I've heard of. This sounds like something DU would be railing against were it some other Freeper site. Is there a limit amount? Would a dime do? Ten bucks?

1. This should be posted in the "Ask the Administrators" forum

The other day someone said they donated 5$ because that was all they could afford but that they loved they felt good to have a star.

This is a member's only message board, not a democracy. Read the rules etc. it will explain some of what you ask.

3. "People" think you should post this in the correct forum.

(Well, at least two people apparently do.)

By the way, the minimum donation is a buck, so
at worst, someone posting from the United States
gets knicked for $1.37 including postage.

4. I told you what I think
Perhaps you are looking for others to complain about DU with you, that is not what I feel like doing at this moment. But have fun, lots of members love to do that.

6. Yea, that's the rule
I haven't donated either, but I realize it is appropriate for the paying members to get some privileges non-paying members don't. If I wanted to post polls, then I would donate.

8. I think it's more than fair. Wait till you run a website till you see....
how much time, work and effort is involved in it. Takes a big chunk out of your spare time and pocket.

Thanks DU!!!!!!

9. I'm a little thick-headed
So....I can get a spiffy star if I donate some loot?

OK. Fair enough.

11. I'll tell you what I think...
You've been at the party a long time. You didn't bring any chips or dip, or anything to drink, and now you are criticizing your hosts.

Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

It costs money to run a message board. Lots of it. Personally, I'm thinking about quitting posting and not donating any more because the freeloaders are just so offensive with their attitude that somebody owes them something. I think that it is too generous to let people see the posts and to post without some small cover charge. But the owners of the board still disagree.

12. It's appropriate to give donators some priviledges IMHO...
and polls are a big part of the reason why I have an envelope in front of me adressed to DU.
