Well, I am pleased at how the Presidential race is shaping up. I goota say that I didn't have a lot of hope this time last year, but this thing is looking better and better.
I am worried that we are neglecting the Senate races however. Looking at the contested seats on a state by state breakdown I don't see a lot of scenarios where we pick up seats. I am in South Carolina and I forsee a very uphill battle to hold the seat vacated by Fritz Hollings. Over in Georgia Zell Miller's seat seems a sure republican pickup (If you even count that one as a democratic seat). Florida looks tougher than it should be, as does Louisana. In short, The south looks brutal for the good guys (except maybe North Carolina, especially if Edwards picks up the VP nod). We get a shot in the arm in Illinois though.
Anyway, The way I look at it, if current trends hold up I see the repugs picking up 2-3 seats in a best case scenario. I say this so that we can see whats happening and focus on these races as having John Kerry up there isn't going to mean squat if we hit a wall in the Senate. I haven't looked at the house, but we already have a lot of work to do there.
So lets get out there for all our Candidates.
