For being more concerned with the GOP than with making them money.

5. I went last night it was sold out a the Mansell 14 which is a mulitplex
in Alpharetta, GA. Sold out, I had to wait until the 10pm show- and it sold out as well- you could tell many left other movies to see F911- people were sitting on the floors and lots of cheer, a standing o, and whistles at the end.

24. You should have watched it there if you live in metro Atlanta, it was
better than any political rally. I have never seen such a exuberant crowd at a movie. The standing o and cheers and whistles was such an emotional lift.

10. Footnote of...er, note...
"NOTE: If grosses stop for a movie, it means that the respective studio is no longer tracking it on a daily basis. The exceptions are IFC, New Line, Miramax, Artisan and Lions Gate. They don't do daily box office, so estimates are made for their movies based on partial data in order to fill out the top 12. So movies from these studios are more apt to disappear from the daily chart. "

So these are estimated numbers for F9-11...it could be doing even better....

17. I think the figures for this movie
for Hillary and Bill's books as well as the other anti-Bush books mean that liberals and moderates are starved for someone to present their point of view.

26. That's #1 @ $8.2m on 868 screens vs. ~3000 screens, but less $, for others
F9/11 is making about $9400 per theatre (ie "packed houses") vs the $2000 per screen for other opening films.

This is big.

The 10921.5% is the "percentage change" in gross sales. Since this is weekend #1 I don't know what that is a change from, but it's all looking pretty good.

30. It's the percentage change from the day before
If you look at the daily totals for films you'll see some go up and down various percentages.

F911 was bound to go up in huge way due to the fact that it was going from 2 theaters to over 800 from Thursday to Friday.

BTW-- BoxOfficeMojo can be addictive etc. re: films rise and fall--
For example-- more movies these days are "front-loaded"-- they hope for boffo box office there first weekend-- the test, though is to see their percentage drop the next weekend. 40-50% is normal. Anything over 50% is often deemed ominous for the film's future grosses.

Why do I know this? For the last 3 years, I've been following LOTR etc.-- learned a lot along the way in terms of how films do--whether they have legs, or are flashes in the pan, etc.

In any case-- F911 is doing damn well for a film in only 800+ theaters vs. other films in over 2000 theaters, etc. If it's number 1 for the weekend-- folks *might* take notice in the media...don't hold your breath, though. The orders from above appear to be to disparage the film...

23. F911 has like a third of the screens and STILL is #1 !
Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is what I got from reading this chart:

Fahrenheit 9/11 is only showing on 868 screens, as opposed to 2,000 to 3,000 screens for all of the other movies in the top 10.

But even with drastically fewers screens, F911 is grossing more than any of the other movies!

This means that the cinemas seriously miscalculated what people wanted to see.

Fahrenheit 9/11 opened in the least number of theaters, and still brought in the highest amount of box office receipts??
