I think MoveOn should organize people to hold signs outside F911
Edited on Sat Jun-26-04 01:02 AM by dArKeR
theater saying, 'Please donate to Kerry before cutoff'.

This is a good idea and I hope someone with connections could quickly contact them!

1. I saw F911 tonight...
Edited on Sat Jun-26-04 12:53 AM by nm3damselfly
..., and the MoveOn folks were there handing out leaflets about an online townhall meeting with MM.

P.S. The film ROCKS!!

On edit: I thought they should have had voter registration, also.

8. They? Uh, "they" is "us"
Lots of people here went with registration forms. You can do it. *Anyone* can do it.

We really need to start (sooner rather than later) realizing that a democracy is *US*. We can't keep< looking for somenoe to do it -- we're going to have to roll up our ole' sleeves and get busy if we're going to have any hope at all of pulling this thing out of the fire.[br />

2. MoveOn.org has no ties to any candidate, they are a 527
advocacy group.

5. Boy, shows you how goofy I am! I had no idea. I'm in my own little world
with a full schedule of my own. I only have so much time to read and I only watch 5 minutes of TV. I end up vomitting watching Whore News TV.

4. June 30 is NOT the cutoff
It's just the end of the quarter. The letter they sent out was confusing, but anyone can donate to Kerry up until he accepts the nom at the convention at the end of July. They were just trying to get some really great numbers for the quarter 'cuz the buzz that creates generates optomism and indicates success and spurs others to contribute.

As for Move On, there was someone at our showing passing out flyers they've made about "what to do now."

6. Hey, what's going on. I'm sure I saw people post that here on the DU
and other backed it up. Normally I only post what I see on News websites and my personal experiences. Now I feel really stupid for posting wrong information!!!!!!!

11. Don't feel stupid -
there was a thread about it on DU and you weren't the only one that was confused, till it got straightened out Personally, I thought the letter was misleading - I realize they wanted to goose up donations for the quarter, but when the REAL deadline comes up they're gonna have to do it AGAIN and some folks may do a collective "WTF?"

7. OK, good on the passing out reports! We went to the morning show
and of course ALL Liberals are drug addicts and don't wake up until 5PM so that's why we didn't see them.

12. Speaking of signs...
I assume it's okay for people to wear logoed t shirts, political buttons and pins, when going to the film etc etc...? One person in DU said they got some flak for holding a tiny Kerry sign.

I know Moveon.org asks theirs to wear blue shirts but just wanted to reaffirm this little detail cause I want to wear a badge I made to the film............

13. I particularly enjoyed
the t-shirt I saw last night: "DAMN LIBERAL" in big block letters across the chest. :)

We are in conservative country: North Dallas suburbs. Our theater was sold out with lines everywhere and folks waiting hours to get in to see this film. Our local Dem group was outside handing out push cards with our Party info on it.

You are right-- ANYONE can take voter registration cards to the theaters. Just go to your local elections office to get the cards (and sometimes you'll find stacks at colleges, libraries and even post offices).

We've got a lot of work to do. Let's take advantage of this!

15. I was suprized the theatre was not completely full. I have been
reading here about the packed audiences and lines around the block, but then again I am in extreme repugnant land. And it was a 4:30 show and the theatre does not fandango. It was probably 3/4 full. There was a hearty applause upon the conclusion. There was an older white pop-up van outside parked with a moveon sign and a huge Democratic voter registration sign that was parked out front when we left that wasn't there when we arrived. A saw a few people walking up to them and getting some a bumpersticker.

I guess I shouldn't have read all the spoilers. I was a little disappointed but, maybe I was too close to the screen. I took my mom who I converted a ways back. Dad refused to go. I finally talked my husband into going but, he didn't go on this outing, I am gonna go with him later this week.

One thing I can tell you is that there is a massive movement going on in this country that I don't think we have grasped before. The sizes of the audiences and all the sell out shows tells you that these polls have been spewing lies for months. This country is not behind this war or this president that is complete bullshit. I just don't believe that. People are pissed. When you can get a hearty applause like that in repig town, it tells you people have been thinking this for a while, they just needed someone to tell them it is OK.

One point I would like to make. There was some very vocal anti-bush people sitting directly behind us, who made unnecessary comments throughout the movie. Although I share their sentiments, their fuck bush comments at the end of the movie made me cringe, and I am a potty mouth, and have said it many times on this board. It looks and sounds bad. There were alot of older people in this film, I just think that is not necessary. People are not stupid, they will come to their own conclusions.
