23. I don't believe in boycots of this kind.
First of all, they're absolutely ineffective. Second, especially in this case -- when what they're showing is F911. Third, given the corporate consolidation and globalization that has been taking place in the last few decades, the only way to not directly or indirectly patronize some evil corporation is to live in a tree. I still drive a car, eat processed food, use electricity, fly on planes. Now I'm supposed to boycott a movie theater chain? Please. That reminds me of the religious people who only follow the tenets of their religion that don't take too much effort to follow... And the rest? Well, "we're all sinners...".

30. I do.
Edited on Fri Jun-25-04 04:22 PM by slavkomae
Like, a third of what I make goes to making bombs to bomb some brown people and steal their oil, which I then buy and put in my car, or use to process food with, or run the planes in which I fly, or make the electricity which I use. These kinds of small-scale "voting with your dollar" stunts are cool if they make you feel better about yourself. They don't do shit for me.

And I will join the millions that can actually make a difference.

Unlike in this case, where it makes no difference whatsoever, and you know it, no?

17. Sorry still gonna go to loew's
Let's see should I go around the block to the comfortable and always clean theaters at Lowes, or drive all the way across town to the dumpy dive of the century theaters that always have shootings and cowboys getting drunk?

hmmmm....tough choice

29. Well I don't have a choice I'm not in a big city
It's either a theater that is clean where I know I can enjoy the movie in peace (unless of course the freepers show up which I doubt they will at 10:30 showing) or the cowboy hangout where they'll probably be looking to lynch anyone they see going into the film, plus the theater's a total dive even has beer stains on the friggen chairs.

19. Just got home from the matinee in Tulsa
I went to one of the three theatres showing it here in Tulsa. Very good crowd for an afternoon. I'd say about 3/4 full in a stadium seating theatre of about 400-500 ( I have trouble estimating)

Very good crowd. Cheering, laughing and clapping. Standing ovation at the end......In Tulsa freakin' Oklahoma!!

55. Southdale Mall, in Edina, Minnesota
I saw the 1:00 p.m. showing of this movie in the very conservative suburb. I am assumed I would be watching this movie in a very empty theater. Boy, was I wrong! The theater was at least 3/4s full and the crowd ranged from teenagers to senior citizens. The was booing and hissing as Bush & Co. appeared on-screen, especially for MN. Rep. Kennedy. And a huge round of applause at the end (which is impressive in restrained Minnesota).
