1. Was there any question?
Come now, we all know it's Clinton's fault!

Silly to even ask.

8. Yes, CNN Used RICHARDSON as a Tool, See Buzzflash Letter
*********QUOTE*********
From the beginning of the big power outage, it appeared slightly odd that a governor from another part of the country was being featured all over our crack media outlets. Yes, it was Democratic Bill RICHARDSON, with the tenuous link to the story being that he is the FORMER Energy Secretary-----under former President CLINTON.

Did our wingnut media representatives want explanations about what was wrong with the "grids and infrastructure" from a knowledgeable source? Oh, yes, that would be the ostensible reason.

But the subtext has been clear, and this morning the CNN anchor made it explicit: "Well, Governor, why didn't this get taken care of while YOU were there?" Even NYT's Bill KELLER's three-year-old, who supposedly chanted, "GORE is a bore," would be able to see through this: "You" means "you CLINTON guys."

Yes, along with all of the disasters of the Shrub mal-administration, this, too, will be said to be "CLINTON's fault".

The true answer-------to ALL of the supposed issues-------SHOULD be: Because the radical wingnuts gridlocked all issues for the sake of overthrowing the elected government. But, no, the polite Dems can't say THAT because that would be FINGER-POINTING, now wouldn't it.

All former CLINTON Administration members should stay off the air and let the faces of the Shrubbites take their true responsibility.

9. Who & Where Was Energy Secty Spencer ABRAHAM?
Edited on Sat Aug-16-03 10:43 AM by UTUSN

He was overseas on a "business related trip". And, given the time difference was asleep when the outage happened. Asleep at the switch.

.... Under Secretary Abraham's leadership, the Department of Energy has pursued an ambitious agenda that strengthens America's energy and national security.

In the first week of the new Administration, President Bush appointed Secretary Abraham and other Cabinet-level officials to a task force that developed the first National Energy Policy in over a decade. Since the energy plan was released, Secretary Abraham has led the Administration's efforts to increase energy supply and conservation and energy efficiency, and is currently working to secure passage of a comprehensive energy bill.

One of the key components of the National Energy Policy was nuclear power, which provides 20 percent of the nation's electricity. After years of inaction and delay, Secretary Abraham recommended Yucca Mountain as the nation's first repository of nuclear fuel and nuclear waste, and that recommendation was approved by decisive bipartisan majorities in both the House and Senate. ....

"Some experts calculate that the demands of the Internet already consume some 8-13 percent of electricity. If demand grows at just the same pace as during the last decade, we'll need nearly 1,900 new plants by 2020--or more than 90 every year--just to keep pace."

--Energy secretary Spencer Abraham, in a March 19 speech to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. ....
