1. The Kenworth Pilgrimmage, of course!
Edited on Sat Aug-16-03 08:24 AM by slackmaster

Seriously, I don't understand why Cadillac, BMW, Daimler-Benz, etc. have gotten into that market. Even the Infiniti Qx4 seems odd because it's almost identical to my Nissan Pathfinder but costs about $10K more.

13. One word: M O N E Y
these monstrosities are considered to be "trucks", so they don't have to meet the same safety, mileage & emissions standards as passenger cars. And they create a huge profit for car makers. It costs Infiniti about $2K to turn a Pathfinder into a Qx4, you do the math.

SUVs are the penultimate Republican vehicle: style and image over logic and substance, the whole market is a creation of marketing and advertising; not need, they are wasteful of resources, they literally crowd out other cars on the road and in the parking lot, the owners don't know how to drive them safely or responsibly - and the whole attitude of the owners is "screw the other guy".

18. LOL
Thanks, Slackmaster. That's a good one.

However, I guarantee that if the Kenworth Pilgrimage hit the showrooms tomorrow, every yuppie family in my So. Cal suburb would be clammoring to own one. They define the word "sheeple."

I once counted 18 mega SUV's in a row lined up at the drop-off zone in front of my daughter's elementary school. My personal " favorites" are the Denali and the Yukon. All of these monsters are total pieces of shit. I'd be ashamed to be seen in one.

Hummers, by far, are the most obnoxious of the SUVS. I take great pleasure in flipping them all off. Anyone who owns one of these things should be ashamed of themselves!! The epitome of 'Murican decadance and self-centered thinking.

12. I work near a private high school La Jolla, California
La Jolla Country Day, alma mater of the infamous Andrew Cunanan.

At least two students there drive H2s. It's appalling even to someone who grew up in a town where the richest girls all got new Mercedes-Benz coupes for their 18th birthdays.

H2s are too large and unwieldy for inexperienced drivers.

56. The original hummer was a great vehicle
But it was not intended as a town car. If I lived in the Outback of Australia or some other remote area like that, the hummer would be my vehicle of choice. It is an extremley rugged and dependable vehicle that could save your live in a place like that. It is the last vehicle I would want for driving in the city. It was not designed with the confort of the driver in mind. I am sure the commercial version is much better than the military version, but it still cannot be very confortable.

And some dink had parked his H2 across 3 spaces (it actually would have fit into one). So I took out my keys and scratched "Impotent" on the hood and both sides. I felt good.

Note, I key any almost vehicle that is parked across multiple spaces or in the handicapped spaces without a tag.

teach someone to be considerate, seems you need to learn that yourself. You don't know who these people are or WHY they park like that, maybe they are old or have small children or any number of reasons. Why don't you just leave a note on their car saying they should be more considerate? They don't know why you damaged their property all they know is that some thug is probably jealous of what they have. Your behavior does more harm than good and makes this an uglier world than it already is. :argh: :-(

for people who plunk down the equivalent of 5 years of my salary on a freakin' car because it got keyed. I don't key cars, even assholish SUV's or the ones with Bush stickers, but my little '95 Escort wagon has been keyed (probably because of my DU and Dean stickers) and I didn't freak about it - it's a stupid lousy hunk of metal. A Hummer is the same. A much bigger, stupider, and uglier hunk of metal. It is of course wrong to vandalize the property of others, but I am not going to shed any tears over minor cosmetic damage to the absurd luxury toys of the idle rich while we regular people are being robbed blind by the Bush cabal. (In part to pay for more tax cuts for those same idle rich)

42. I come here to kill threads i guess
others come here to post threads threatening to kill someone or do bodily harm to someone who would deface their vehicles with a key.

This thread was about Poseurs. Which are you? The person who claims to be a liberal independant thinker concerned about the vitality of the life of a human being somewhere on the face of this earth, regardless of the country they may have been born in, their color, creed gender faith or social economic status? or the poseur more concerned with the paint job on the POS metal hulk monstrosity with a price tag alone would feed a village in a 3rd world country for a year? I seriously wonder wtf happened in the upbringing of the so called liberals that inhabit this board at times. You would threaten to kill a key scratching-point-making-person who has made your life so unbearably uncomfortable over your possesion, but really don't seem to stop and think about the point they are making is all along?

here's a clue. It's a really small planet. Those behemoths of vehicular insanity you drive are choking away our breath, and the lives of those in other countries on this planet. They require an abundant fuel source that is creating devastating wars and deplorable living conditions that the citizens of those countries with the remaining oil reserves are dealing with and surviving but only barely if at all. Bombs, remember? Not the bomb you are driving, but the bomb that shreds the skin and bones off a human body. ... and you are pissed about a paint job on a madison avenue hyped representation of power and success that you have been suckered into buying and believing is your right and freedom as an Murickan?
Boofuckinghoo.
Face it, you are driving a wide open target of the ugliest of the human race's most despicable examples of self importance, ie. a selfish non-caring greedy and joke of an enlightened individual. In short, a poseur.

This thread is hopefully dead and i'm proud if i've killed it... Power to the keyers.

I don't. I haven't read any replies from people who do. My car gets 23 mpg, has low emissions. And I like the paint where it is, thank you.

Damaging others' property is wrong. Don't care if you think you have a fantastic reason for doing it. All it does is cause the owner to take it to a shop to have it repainted, further introducing pollutants to the air. Stupid, stupid.

Whatever happened to liberals who knew how to think logically?

It isn't a matter of the money going to support a third world village. I would love to see the money better spent, as well, but purposeful destruction is nothing but juvenile vandalism.

Anyway the vandal who is advocating "keying" doesn't even do it because it is an SUV, he does it to any vechicle when in his opinion the driver is being "inconsiderate". You better hope that if you park the "wrong way" you are not in the same lot as him.
