I wonder if that's a factor, because he seems to be waiting pretty long. (I'm also assuming he didn't want to announce the week Bill Clinton's book came out.)

1. I think he'll wait till the convention to make the announcement.
It'll make the convention even bigger news than it already is. Plus I think it will give him an even bigger bump coming out of the convention.

2. I agree
There just isn't any need to announce right now and distract the media from all the negative news regarding Bush.

It is a wonderful trump card because the moment he announces, it has to be the front page. He can use it to counter anything momentous the Bush campaign has put together. You don't just piss away an opportunity like that.

4. You're probably right
Since conventions have very little drama these days, you both make a very good point.

7. What an amazing position for a presidential candidate to be in.

Kerry actually WANTS attention focused on his rival, lol! Kerry, sitting in the cat bird seat, looking down contentedly while * self-destructs! :D

3. There is so much negative news and Bush is self imploding
why disturb that?

It is early still. We need to be patient and let the chimp self destruct a little more.

5. no, he isn't waiting any longer than other presidential candidates have
it would be unusual if he had already announced since it would be far earlier than it usually has been. the vp is announced about a week or 2 before the convention. that is the normal time. and has been ever since they have started announcing before the convention rather than at the convention.

8. Kerry is smart fo keep as low profile as possible
In the current vulturous political climate (read: Rush Limbaugh and the neocon media), any Democratic candidate will be picked over like a corpse. The Democratic party is smart to keep as much as they can under wraps until absolutely necessary. I also think it is a stroke of genius to have Clinton's book (and bod) out there to be a decoy for all the Osama bin Bubbas out there running their explosive mouths on talk radio.

Shrub is imploding day by day. Every leaked memo, every lie, every photo is digging the Bush administration's gravesite. I am relieved that the party knows when to hold'em. Sit back and watch the fireworks.

9. Might as well wait as long as he can.
VP pick will be another target for Cheney. Let them self-destruct as long as possible and then call for Mr. Final Blow, whoever that may be at the time.

10. I think so...
Why would Kerry want to run interference for * on things that hurt *? I do think he'll announce (at least unofficially) who the veep will be before the convention, though.
