What democratic candidate deals with issues of pay eq??
Does any candidate say how they will do anything about the HUGE and growing gap in pay between CEO's and the rest of us little people??

What is scary in the last election the only candidate that addressed this issue was Pat Buchanan.

1. Edwards
google the workers/shareholders bill of rights

and look at his tax plan, that gives tax relief to the middle and working class

and increases taxes on unewarned wealth(dividends, stock options, inheritence) more than any other candidate

3. Didn't Edwards(DLC) stain his record with...
War, Patriot Act and Homeland Gestapo YES votes? Would have meant more had it been introduced as a Bill...instead of a promise he can't keep. Won't matter anyway...he is not the DLC selected candidate.

4. who is your candidate? Cause Dean is DLC too
Dean also supports the patriot act and homeland security, yet unlike Edwards, he has no proposals to permanantly protect the US from the problems with patriot act and homeland security

2. take a look at this
http://www.edwardsforprez.com/000165.html

North Carolina Senator John Edwards yesterday outlined his proposal for a Worker and Shareholder Bill of Rights:

<SNIP>

In making the case for reform, Edwards cited the recent example of American Airlines. While workers were being asked to take large cuts in their pensions, the CEO was secretly setting up a $41 million trust to protect his pension in case of bankruptcy.

"CEOs are getting paid more, while workers' wages and the value of stocks are going down. That is wrong," said Edwards. "We need to bring back the era of corporate responsibility, and we need to protect workers."

Edwards' Worker and Shareholder Bill of Rights would:

Secure Equal Treatment of CEO and Worker Pensions;
Rein in Irresponsible CEO Pay;
Enable Shareholders to Control Boards of Directors.

5. Edwards looks the best on this
I went hunting around for candidate's positions and actually didn't find much. I found a labor debate, I think, and Edwards was actually the only one who mentioned pay equity.

Okay, I still don't understand how he's going to force parents to provide health insurance but if he's got a better position on pay equity, then that equals out.

6. From Kucinich's website:

<3> Withdrawal from NAFTA and WTO
The global trade regime of NAFTA and WTO has enriched multinational corporations. But for workers, family farmers, and the environment, it has meant a global race to the bottom. Companies leave the U.S. in search of low wages, low commodity prices, anti-union climates, and lax environmental laws. NAFTA has been used to whipsaw workers at the negotiation table, forcing wages and benefit concessions under threat of moving jobs overseas. Trade treaties must be conditioned on workers’ rights, human rights, and environmental principles.

Among the first actions of a Kucinich Administration will be withdrawal from NAFTA and the WTO—to be replaced by fair trade agreements.

<6> Balance Between Workers and Corporations
American workers are working longer and harder for less pay than 20 years ago. What’s needed is a resurgence of organized labor, and a Kucinich administration will tenaciously defend the rights of workers to organize and bargain collectively. Since the purchasing power of the minimum wage has dropped 21% in two decades, it’s time for living wages, not minimum wages. And it’s time to reverse tax cuts that benefit the already well-to-do, and retain an estate tax. Investing $500 billion to rebuild schools, roads, bridges, ports, and sewage, water and environmental systems will do more to stimulate our economy than tax breaks for the wealthy.

<9> Restored Rural Communities and Family Farms
Agriculture, trade, and economic policies that favor agribusiness conglomerates have devastated family farmers, rural communities, and the environment. While the number of family farmers has plummeted, profits have soared for a handful of agribusiness giants that increas-ingly control everything from seed to shelf.

A Kucinich administration will break up agricultural monopolies and restore a strong, independent family farm system with fair prices for farmers and healthy food for consumers. A Kucinich Administration will monitor and reduce contamination of our air, water, and food from factory farms, with strong USDA enforcement of tough new food safety laws.

Also from his website:

Also see Studs Terkel's article "Kucinich is the One" from The Nation May 2002, regarding his stand against the banks and corporations as mayor of Cleveland on behalf of the working families of his city. A stand which eventually saved $200M:

For Dennis, it's always been about hope for the little people against the corporate interests. He is accepting no corporate donations. He can't be bought.

Never heard of this Kusinich guy. Sounds like Greens party. Never the less its no good chasing after someone not electable.

So in other words the great Howard Dean isnt touching this issue. Maybe Gephradt is looking better all the time.
