A message to those who ask for help in debunking someone...
Edited on Tue Jun-22-04 01:06 AM by noahmijo
First off I want to make this very clear.

1. I am not talking about people who have questions about a particular subject.

2. I am not talking about people who heard something they don't want to believe (false rw attacks) and want someone to provide a source of debunking to ease their emotions.

I AM however referring to those on here who insist on picking fights with idiots on Free Republic or wherever that get themselves mixed up in a political scuffle then come on here and demand ammo.

Look pure and simple it's weak. If you're gonna get into an argument or a debate make sure you go properly armed, because you make yourself look silly when you put on your war face and talk big, but then come back with an almost desperate call for help in finishing a fight you started.

I'm sorry I know I can just exercise my right to ignore threads that start with "help me debunk this stupid freeper! ect" but it just gets on my nerves after awhile, and I think those who do it would better serve themselves to be well informed enough to hold a good strong argument with a freeper before diving into a full fledged match.

Her husband flogs it over the sink when it gets clogged.

He calls it "Straino"

2. What about unsolicited e-mails?
That's what I've seen a bunch of... some ignorant freeper relative sends someone a stupid forward, and they want to respond, but aren't quite up to the challenge.

That I almost see as a good thing, since it spreads the truth over the lies.

5. Right wing
The problem is you won't see that stopping republicans from making their argument. We have to make sure we are well armed, supporting others in this quest is not necessarily a bad thing.

7. I completely disagree
I have received invaluable information here that I have used to debunk RW propaganda with relatives and through email (when they email out a mass RW email). I've opened minds with the info I got here. I've changed minds with the info I got here. And I changed someone's vote from Bush to Kerry with info I gothere that I used to debunk an email.

I think it's very valuable and I'm more than willing to help anyone out when they need help.

Sure, it's not worth the time to do it on freerepublic, but I'm talking when someone gets a mass email or if someone needs ammo to talk to someone in real life, like a family member or co-worker.

I don't want people to feel scared to ask for help, or scared that they will be flamed by someone who gets "frustrated" with threads like that. Just ignore the threads if they frustrate you. Really. Because we can change minds and change votes with information learned on DU! :) :toast:

8. You seem to be referring more to
Those in category #2 in my post. I said those who want to ask the board about something someone said, or an email full of false statements or whatever is cool, I would do that too if all other methods were exhausted

I'm referring to types that rush out to a fight and then come running back to the board for help.
