From the mouth of my babe
My 14 year old daughter share some great ideas with me. I was very surprised and touched, and I wanted me to share them with you. First of all, she thinks we should change our own title from liberals to the "factuals" since we rely on truth, even checking it out when we hear it from each other.

Her other suggestion is to strongly suggest John Kerry ask Bill Clinton to be his VP.

Your thoughts?

1. i doubt big Bill will put himself back in the wringer
he looks like he's having a lot of fun and seems so relaxed and happy these days

re the "factuals" I like it, but i doubt if it will catch on.

but along her great idea's same lines, can we start calling the RW the "pants on fire" party or POF for short? not such a long way from GOP i think

3. hmm
Is Clinton allowed to be VP? I would think so, but I'm just checking because the two amendments would be in conflict with each other, line of succession vs. two term limit. If Kerry is incapacitated, Clinton would be next in line...which he couldn't serve because he has two already...would it skip over him, or would they need to make an exception. No idea, just wondering.

4. Your daughter sounds like a very
sensible/logical young Democrat and you should be very proud of her that she discusses things with you. I like "factuals", although if you think about it, we should really be the right-wing, since we are right more than wrong. As for Clinton being VP, I'm afraid he would steal all the thunder from Kerry, and Kerry doesn't have that much thunder to spare right now. Keep her thinking tho.

7. This has never been fully answered.
because in order for it to be answered, it would actually have to happen and be litigated.

It does crop up periodically, and the partisan answer tends to vary depending on which party the person answering it belongs to. If it's your party that the VP will belong to, the naswer generally is "yes, he or she can be VP". If it's not, the answer tends to be "No, they can't."

Looking at it from a Constitutional basis, I'd have to say "NO", a president that has served 2 terms CAN NOT be elected VP, because he or she isn't eligible to take the office of President.

Either way, Clinton is FAR too smart to stick his proverbial genitalia into such a proverbial meatgrinder. It would cause a HUGE Constitutional crisis.

8. I can't see how it's constitutional, either.
The last sentence of the Twelfth Amendment goes like this:

"But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States. "

Seems like that ought to do it.

10. Thanks for all the feedback
I'm amazed how much my children have paid attention to what is happening and further attention to why their mother is throwing things at the TV all the time. My daughter watched 60 Minutes very closely tonight and feels strongly in her heart that he needs to be back in office. Based on all your responses so far, she now is pushing the idea he takes Rummy's position.

I'm just so sad these days that so few people realize how much he did for this country and how much more good he tried to do. Without the greed of the POF, our economy could have skyrocketed.

11. This has come up a lot
in the last year here on DU. And no, Clinton cannot be VP because he's not (as already pointed out) eligible to serve as president since he's already served two terms.

Plus, quite frankly, he doesn't need the job.

12. It would be nice, but not likely
Edited on Mon Jun-21-04 12:43 AM by Nick76
After being President, why would he want to take a back step and become Vice President? It would be a winning ticket, but I just dont't see it happening. However, I do wish Kerry would hurry up and choose a running mate. I think anybody he picks will beat Enron and Halliburton, but the suspense is killing me.

Of course if you ask a neocon, they will tell you that Clinton doesn't want Kerry to win because that would make it tougher for Hillary to run in '08. Whatevah! I guess it is all part of the Vast Left Wing Conspiracy...LOL

Oh, check out the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy

www.readybb.com/conservative

Can you believe people like this are actually allowed to vote? I shudder at the thought.

14. You should check out the Political Debates Forum
The Lurker forum is nothing compared to that one. You need to register, but it is oh so worth it. I've been on some neocon websites before, but this one is just full of radicals. If you register, send me a pm letting me know who you are. I am Leftists and Proud.
