I am so disgusted
I am so disgusted...mostly with myself right now. I find that I have become so jaded and cynical with our current politics that I now immediately assume the worst will happen.

The day Mr. Johnson was taken I knew in my heart he was a dead man.

Every single time we have a glimmer of hope that the media will wake up to the newest and latest Bush Co. atrocity - They don't.

The friggen polls are just too close for my level of comfort and I'm beginning to think the idiot boy will be re selected.

I have dramatically decreased my TV news consumption -but boy I tell you cynicism sucks big time.

1. You know, I'm feeling pretty much the same way today.....

I think, for me, it all comes back to the last couple of months with all the "treading water" of the Kerry campaign. I just feel that we have to completely destroy Bush's crediblity...just run down the list of all the crap that has gone down, just pile on...and yet, I fear it won't happen and the Dems will sit there and run a "normal" campaign and dance around the biggest issues....the lying, etc. I want someone to utter the words "PNAC" and tie everything togther so that Americans get the enormity of what's going on. Instead, I'm afraid we'll get the "same old issues" again, while Bush keeps playing the fear card.

I think one of our objectives should be to wake up America by showing the manipulation they have been subject to,...and by doing so, show that Bush is more to fear than almost anything else....

Because if Bush is playing the minds games to control this country, then we should level the playing field and address those mind games...It does no good just to limit ourselves to standard "issue" debates. We're in different territory now....things are operating at a much more insidious level...

6. double edge sword
I think that directly confronting the ignorance of the general public about what is happening in our government is a double edge sword. Although it sure as hell would make me feel good my concern is that most people do not like being fooled. The denial and apathy we see now is comfortable and easier than accepting responsibility for what we have brought upon ourselves. The general population I think would fight tooth and nail and accept this bullshit than look like the fools they are. (Please forgive me-if I have offended anyone here----I am worn out)

2. IMO cynicism kills
I think I know how you feel. Hopefully after the pain and outrage at this event, you can regain some hope and optimism. I know it's hard, I fight creeping despair and cynicism every day.

And maybe those close polls are a good thing. Keeps us motivated to keep up the fight.

Sorry if I'm annoying you. Just trying to look on the bright side.

5. Not annoying at all
I think it has just really gotten to me over the past few weeks. I am normally an optimistic person who has generally believed truth will win out in the end. I think when the anger fades, the cynicism sets in and then I feel hopeless.

In a few days When the next shit hits the fan I hope to be my usual optimistic pissed off self

7. now to a certain extent, don't you understand why those who follow
Edited on Fri Jun-18-04 07:02 PM by merh
"blindly" don't want to know the truth? It hurts too much to know how things really are, to accept the fact that OUR country is sinking so low and we have evil, twisted people running our government, it is a hard pill to swallow.

Have you ever read "Flowers for Algernon"? It is like that.

(sorry for previous typo)

4. There is a lot of that around on this board
Always has been. Optimism is the best way to go, it is the brighter side. Like I read once an allegory, there is a rose and it has thorns. It is possible to focus on the rose (the beauty, smell, etc) or the thorns, it is up to the individual.

8. one of my favorite poems:
This world that we're a livin' in
is mighty hard to beat
You get a thorn with every rose
but ain't the roses sweet!

:silly:
