A really horrible, cynical thought about the Paul Johnson murder
Isn't this going to distract from Vladimir Putin's b.s. story on behalf of Bush? The nightly news will be talking about Johnson's death instead of Vlad's tall tale.

2. well, it a distraction from something
I'm so jaded now I find any story on the news to be a distraction from something else, much much worse, that's happening.

I don't know who or what to believe anymore.

5. No one will be asking Cheney why he's lost his fucking mind and continues
to insist that everyone in the world is wrong except him & george.

6. Or it could magnify the "war on terror"...
thus, helping Bush in his campaign. As long as the terrorists are a threat, then Bush is able to scare the crap out of people. But this could backfire. The people may look at it a little different than Putin and Bush...

7. Once more I am on the same wave length as you - these incidents
play beautifully into his hands. The only downside is how many times can he get away with his trademark "evil doers will be punished" speech before he sounds completely impotent?

8. God yes, that "evildoers will be punished" rap...
...It's kind of a reverse boy-who-cried-wolf scenario and he sounded impotent with it long, long ago---but not to his minions, alas. I'm actually quite stunned that he can still get away with it. Are there still Bush supporters who sit around going, "Yee-haw! Soon as we get all those evil-doers, they're gonna be punished!" I mean don't they, at some point, have to want actual RESULTS out of the whole evil-doers-will-be-punished mantra?
